Calla's POV
When I finally wake up, the first thing I notice is that I'm chained up in nothing but my undergarments.
Oh shit. It's cold.
I'm sweaty, scared, and thoroughly pissed off. I can't help but worry about Evander, but I push it to the side.
I need to worry about me. If I want to get out of this shit alive, I need to focus.
Evidently I have nothing but time, so I decide to take in my surroundings. It's a large room, a rectangular 7' by 15' most likely. I'm against the seven foot wall with my wrists chained to the ceiling and my legs hanging free, but not touching the ground.
How long have I been here?
Long enough...
I yank at the chains for a little bit, and I realize that they're coated in blood. I guess through the adrenaline I never realize that it had needles covering it. After a while of calm breathing and thinking, I finally feel my adrenaline levels go back to normal. Gosh, my wrists hurt. So. Fucking. Bad.
Suddenly, there's a parade of footsteps outside the door. I let my head hang and pretend to be asleep.
"Good morning!!!" A cheery voice says. "You can cut the act, precious. We heard the chains rattling." I don't move. I hear a grunt, some shuffling, and then there's a sudden pain in my stomach as he kicks me hard in the ribcage. I gasp and start to choke.
"Fuck!" I gasp as I ignore the tears stinging beneath my eyelids. "Well that is certainly unbiblical! And here I thought you all were were Angels!" Suddenly they're all taking the handcuffs off and I start to thrash about and kick and fight but before I know it? They have me on the ground and all I know is pain. So much if it. They're kicking and hitting and laughing and I'm screaming.
I lay there in pain, tears streaming down my face, and my worlds goes dark.
Evander's POV
It's been a week. Seven. Days. And in ready to kill everything. They've been sending us photos. Annalise is genuinely willing to fight for her after she saw the pictures of Calla.
They gave us ten days to give up. To stop all of this and turn in Jen and Greg or they kill Calla.
My princess was lying on the ground unconscious covered in bruises and had a lot of broken bones. The next day it was of her chained up. She was still covered in bruises, but you couldn't really see it through the blood. The next day it was a magical paper that displayed a video. They had her try and fight the guys. She was so injured though that it wasn't even a minute before they just threw her to a wall and left her chained up, unconscious. There was one every day. It just magically appears at 7:36 every night. So here I am, on the seventh day at 7:32, waiting for it.
Slowly but surely, it appears. The second it does, I look at it. It's a picture of the council leader, Henroshi, kissing her cheek with a dagger in his hand. And as he pushes it into her neck, a trail of blood leaks out.
You might want to hand yourself over now. We'll deal with your traitorous sister and her boyfriend soon. You have three more days. Good luck, Ethan.
You can see his smirk and it infuriates me. My vision is dark and everything is by pure animalistic instinct. I throw the door off its hinges and tell whoever is there to tell everyone in done waiting. I see Annalise through mind link and I think she's asking what's wrong. I quickly show her everything I saw and she's immediately angry.
"Ethan we can't just rush in and storm the palace, we barely have 50 angels."
"We also have a lot of things they don't."
"Like what?"
"Something worth fighting for." I pause for effect. "We fight for honor," my eyes skim over Death. "we fight for family," I look at Jen and she smiles. "we fight for friends," Michael and I make eye contact and smile. "we fight for a new life." I look at Annalise, only to find her and Death staring at each other.
"But," closing my eyes, I take a deep breath and finish. "most of all, we fight for love. Two days. Two days and we give it all we got. We fix this broken world, or we die trying."
And with the encore of cheers, we prepare for battle.
