Calla's POV
"Why didn't you tell me, Ethan!!!?" I scream at him. I am beyond pissed.
"Because I didn't know what to do! This has never happened before! The council wants you dead! They looked into my mind and saw that could you see me when you were alive and they knew you special! Now they want you dead, and they thought that when you died, they thought your soul went immediately to reincarnation like most of them do! A soul is eternal, and they have yet to realize that it's your soul that makes you, you! They think a soul is nothing but a substance, but it's not. You still need to eat, go to the bathroom, and sleep, and you're just a soul! They asked me to demolish your soul. To evaporate your existence and turn you into nothing... Princess, you're able to see angels at any time, and most likely other creatures as well. That's not normal, and they don't like that. When you were in that accidentThey want you dead, and I'm scared. I've never heard of the council wanting someone dead, but after we came home last week, they ordered me to kill you. I didn't really want to, obviously, so I told them that your soul was gone the minute you died. I'm sorry I didn't tell you, but I have no idea what to do."
I sigh. "So what? We just stay hidden?" I'm still terrified, but I get it. Plus, it's sweet that he'd do that for me. I give him a small smile. "For how long?"
"Pretty much, yeah. And for as long as we can" He chuckles and I laugh. We night seem crazy, but it's better then crying.
The day passes and Evander and I spend it all together. He even helped burn lunch. We talked about anything and everything and all I can think about is how awesome this guy
is. He makes me smile and laugh when I should be crying, and spending time without him seems foreign to me.It's so hard to believe that it's only been three weeks. I am totally falling in love with my angel.
Fuck yeah. My angel. I like the sound of that.
At dinner, when we're all done eating, before I let the boys go upstairs, I walk into the kitchen and grab a large pan and walk back into the dining room.
"For Sammy. He finally got the closure he deserved. And I am so happy he's not suffering anymore." I set the cake down and watch the boys smile at my words. I look at Evander and he is beaming at me, his eyes shine with... Pride? Love? Appreciation? I don't know, but I like it.
As I'm coping dishes, I feel arms wrap around my waist and a chin settle against my head. "I'm so proud of you, Princess."
Evander's POV
When we're all done eating the cake, and Princess goes to the kitchen I take a moment to think about her, and realize how truly amazing she is.
She's gone through so much, but instead of panicking, she adjusts and accepts. She's kind, patient, understanding, strong, and talented. I know I need to pull away from her, but she deserves better.
I walk into the kitchen were I see she's doing dishes, and wrap my arms around her waist. She immediately leans into me, and I don't think she even knows that she does, so I rest my chin on her head and say the thing that I've been thinking all day.
"I'm so proud of you, Princess."
She sighs contently and smiles out the window above the sink. You can see us in it, and, not to be conceited, but we look like a very cute and perfect couple. Not an Angel and human trying to stay alive as they babysit a dozen kids around the globe.
She closes her eyes and says, "I'm exhausted. I went into my room this morning and it was awful. I know he's moved on, but it still hurts to think about the fact that he lost a whole-nother family." She opens them slowly when she's down and waits for me to reply.
