The alarm scared me so bad that I elbowed Logan in the stomach when I sat up.
"What time is it?" I gasped, trying to gauge based on the sunlight streaming in from the curtains. It was not there.
"Shhhh. It's six," Logan said gently. "Go back to sleep."
That was impossible now that I'd been launched into panic mode. "Six? Why do you have an alarm set for six?" I asked, my eyes wild.
"Workout is early today," he answered, closing his eyes and snuggling deeper into the blankets. His arms around my waist were a comforting weight, holding me firmly to his chest.
My eyes flew open in the darkness. "The first round is tonight!"
"Mhmm," Logan sighed, clearly unconcerned. Then he winced and sat up, turning on his nightstand lamp. He rummaged around in his drawer before digging out a bottle of painkillers.
My eyes widened. "Are you okay?"
"Fine, fine," he murmured, taking a swig of water to swallow the pillows. "Just sore hips."
I blushed, but really I felt guilty. "I'm so sorry, Logan," I groaned, feeling personally responsible for any losses the Dragons incurred over the next few weeks.
"It was worth it," he said in a low voice, giving me a sexy smile that made my stomach drop.
"When do you have to go?" I asked, sincerely hoping that it wasn't right away. I wanted just one normal morning with him, where we actually had time to be together. At this rate, it felt like we'd never have such a thing.
Logan laid down again, smiling as he said, "I have about a half hour to spare."
That was perfect. That was all I needed. So I scooted closer to him, letting myself be pulled into the tightest hug I'd ever gotten. I giggled as Logan rolled slightly, allowing me to be draped on top of him while he smothered me in soft kisses.
But then the kisses died down and I was left looking down at Logan. Beautiful, wonderful Logan, who was smiling up at me deliriously. Reaching up to brush my hair back, he whispered, "You okay?"
"Fine, just a little warm," I said, which was partially the truth. I was secretly hoping he wouldn't want to go for another round, because I was a sweating mess. I mean, I can't believe he hasn't noticed that my neck was glistening with sweat. Gross.
"Why didn't you say something?" Logan asked with a sigh, shifting so I could sit up. I was all giggles as he pulled the jersey up over my head, leaving me just as naked as he was. Tossing aside the garment, he lightly kissed me. Then kissed me again. Then one more time, although now we were both smiling so hard it could barely be counted as a kiss.
"What else do you have to do today?" I asked, snuggling deeper into the blankets.
Logan hooked his arm around my waist, pulling me to his chest as he said, "Workout. Morning skate, then lunch. Practice. Then about an hour before I have to head to the arena."
I thought about that. What would I do all day? Logan, reading my mind, added, "You can come to skate and practice. Those are open to the public."
"Thanks for grouping me with the public," I joked.
He rolled his eyes. "Trust me, I'd love to have you spend today with me, but I'm already in enough hot water with the organization."
