chapter 11...

The night was thick and heavy, wrapping the empty road in a blanket of quiet isolation. The headlights of the McLaren pierced through the darkness, illuminating the narrow stretch of asphalt ahead. Trees lined both sides of the road, their silhouettes falling on the ground. They looked horrifying. The sky above was painted the darkest colour in nature, scattered with stars that shined to give some comfort to the lonely moon.  Occasionally, a gust of wind would stir the leaves, sending a faint rustling through the air. The world felt empty, as if the night itself is holding its breath. It was probably going to rain soon.

Although both of them were awfully quiet, Bondita's mind wasn't. She had many unanswered questions crowding her head. She wanted to ask him but... did she really have the right? After the mortifying scenario she had created, all her courage had went on vacation. Which was actually a good thing. It would prevent her doing something stupid as hell again.

For Anirudh the silence was intriguing. He didnt understand why he was feeling so peace sitting there, in a car, on a isolated road, in the dead of night, with her. Practically there was supposed to be a awkward silence between them, but he didnt feel the same. For him it felt calming and fascinating at the same time. He really hoped she would say something though. He had an sudden urge to hear her voice.

"So..." he said breaking the silence.

"So what?" she replied.

"Just say something. Im getting bored. Waise toh tum kabhi bolne se rukti nahi ho." he taunted.

"What do you mean to say?!" she said feeling offened. "Bolne se toh aap nahi rukte Mr Roy Chowdhry, apne baare mein."

"And why do you feel like that?"

"Oh please! Don't act like you dont know how self obsessed you are. I could hear you bragging about yourself from miles away "

Anirudh rolled his eyes. " Im so damn perfect at everything. Whats my fault in that.?

Why was he so full of himself? She thought. He never seemed to back down. Never fear anything. Always confident. How could a person be like that? She felt an impulse to challenge him. She wanted to see him be speechless infront of her.

"Not in making decisions about your life though." she said.

He snapped his face towards her direction while avoiding her eyes. "Excuse me? Would you care to elaborate."

"Well" she started "Your biggest mistake is rejecting Saudamini. She's such a nice person. She cares so much about you and your family. And you are playing a fake relationship just to refuse her. How could you do that? "

He laughed lightly at the statement. "Sweetheart, you don't know shit about my life. How can you make assumptions so fast?"

She in return turned her face to see him properly while focusing on his eyes. "Im not making assumptions, Im simply asking a question. How. Could. You. Do. That?" she had the dominance in her that could make anyone stutter.

Anirudh immediately diverted his face to look at the road. "Don't use your lawyer's voice on me. Im not obliged to answer your highly invasive queries about my personal life."

"So you agree."

"Agree what?"

"That you are not the best."

"Never said that."

"Oh but you just did, with your denial." she said in a soft whisper, sending chills to his spine. She leaned towards his face and stopped near his left ear. He inconspicuously held his breath. "Face it, Anirudh Roy Chowdhry, YOUR NOT PERFECT." she mocked. It was fun teasing him. It was like a revenge. She just wanted him to admit that he was not the greatest human in existence. He had tightened his grip on the steering wheel which made her giggle. She knew he would get worked up on that.
