DAY ONE.

Penélopê Sinclair
Age: 15
Height: 5'4"
Status: Alive
Location: Atlanta, Georgia

The nine of us make it to a corner store and Porter and Waynne are immediately blocking the door with shelves.
"Okay— seriously, what are those things?!" Apollo groaned over Bridget's crying. While Morgan attempted to calm Bridget, Porter and Waynne argued about how to handle the shelves, Rhys and Andii started goofing off, Apollo asked questions none of us knew the answer to, and Bridget would not stop crying.

"Shut up," I grumble, and obviously, no one listens. Rhys started climbing one of the shelves and I shoved him, though it didn't do much, "Shut up!" I yell.

Bridget sniffles, Porter and Waynne take their hands off the shelves, Andii slaps Rhys' arm, Morgan rocks Persephone in her arms, and Apollo shuts up and stares at me.

"What?" Apollo grunted and crossed his arms. The rest of them stared at me aswell. I glance at all of them, because I hadn't thought this far ahead.
"Uh— we gotta grab stuff. Only things we need, then we—" I start, but get cut off.
"We haul ass?" Rhys speaks up from beside Andii.
"Exactly." I shrug.

"Porter and Waynne — you two look for perishable foods. Morgan — you take care of the kid. Andii — watch Persephone. Penélopê — grab stuff that you, Morgan 'n Andii are gonna need.." Apollo trailed off when Rhys grinned at him with open arms, "Hale, watch the door." Apollo muttered and went off further into the store.

Rhys rolled his eyes and walked closer to me,
"Want some help?" He smirked,
"No," I said simply, walking to one of the aisles with my duffle bag open, shoving in tampons and pads.
"You sure?" Rhys continued, following me around like a lost —annoying— puppy.
"Go do your job before—"
"Your brother beats my ass? Right..." He grumbled and reluctantly moved to the door.

_______

"How d'we decide who's in charge?" Morgan spoke up after we were done gathering things.
"Oldest?" Waynne suggested, pointing to himself and then Apollo, to which the group nodded but Rhys butted in,
"That includes me," He added.
"Like hell it does." Apollo stood from where he sat beside Morgan.

"Guys— there's no way you're fighting right now," Porter pointed at the doors, where we could see those things trying to get in.
"Whatever," Apollo muttered and he, Waynne, and Rhys walked to a different spot in the store.

I sat beside Morgan,
"So... you still wanna tell me about that thing..?" I asked, a small smile on my face as I nudged her side. She glanced at me, raising her eyebrows but sighing. Porter was with Andii by the door, Persephone in the latters arms and Bridget clinging to her leg.

Morgan begun to whisper to me, telling me how she and Porter hooked up over the summer, and they sort of had something going on, but neither of them really specified what it was. She told me how despite everything that's happening right now, she still wants to be with him, whatever that might entail. She braided my hair as she told me how her dad was laid off at work, how her mom and him had argued the night before today, and how she didn't care if she ever saw them again.

I knew that was a lie, but I didn't speak on it. I just wanted to feel like everything was normal for one last time before we had to face whatever was really going on around us.
