"Hey Roxy, are you ready?" Aiden asked from the other side of the door."In a minute." I frantically tried to struggle brushing my hair and wearing my clothes. What can I say, I'm a multitasker and I clearly pulled it off... I guess. Aiden came into my room.
"You're such a mess, you wore your shirt inside out." he annoyedly gestured to my shirt.
"Oh right." I hurriedly went to bathroom to wear rightly. Guess multitasking isn't my thing. Meh I'm too good for that anyway. I came out and turned to Aiden.
"Okay, I'm ready." I said before grabbing my phone as we headed out of the door.
"Mom, we're going off to Asher's game." I said loudly hoping she'd hear me.
"Okay sweetheart, don't be back too late." She replied from the living room.
"Got it. Bye mom, love you." I shouted to her as Aiden and I went out the door.
"By the way, why didn't you tell Lori to come pick you up? You always go to school with her." Aiden asked while we walked to his car and I scoffed.
"Is that even a question? You know she always goes super early so she can see Asher before the game with her usual excuse of 'he needs emotional support.'" I rolled my eyes.
"She's got it that bad for him huh?" Aiden said shaking his head as we entered his car and drove off.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Wooh! go Asher!" Lori screamed as Asher ran with the ball. I had no idea on how football worked and apparently so did Lori but we made sure to scream when he held it and booed when he was tackled to the ground.
It was half-time when we saw them hurling into a group and the captain giving others and offering advice. They did the all-hands-in-the-middle thing and separated.
The scores were tied as the both teams played brutally fighting for a goal. I looked over to the cheerleaders giving moral support and performing choreographed stunts with precision. My eyes then fleeted to the Tiger woods Mascot doing a weird but funny dance. I smiled.
It had a 'go tigers' written on its shirt and a ridiculously big head and and even smaller sized body. It was a tiger (duh) with black long stripes and an orange color. As if the person knew I was staring, it looked up exactly to my spot and waved at me. I furrowed my brows. Who was this creep? I waved awkwardly at it back but didn't have time to think about it because it was 5 minutes till time.
The linebacker threw the ball at the quarterback which was Asher and he ran dodging attacks from the opposite team as our team protected him shoving the opponents from getting the ball. Asher pumped his legs faster and finally reached the goal slamming the ball on the ground and giving a loud victory shout.
The school screamed in excitement. We won. The team ran to praise him with shaking his shoulders and slapping his back.
The timer rung as the other team looked dejected as they took the walk of shame outside the field. Lori, Aiden and I went down the bleachers to congratulate him.
As I reached the bottom, someone tapped my shoulder. Seriously? I've been poked there thrice in two days. That has to be some kind of record. I turned around to see the mascot and I screamed and punched it in the face on instinct the person groaned as it's big head whipped to the side.
"Damn girl you throw a mean punch." The mascot removed his head piece to reveal... Pierce?
"I feel like I would have painfully lost some teeth without this." he poked it. "You're- you-" I stammered.
"I'm me? I guess so?" he gave a silly grin.
" You're the mascot." I finally completed my sentence and looked at him utterly surprised.
"I told you I wasn't on the team there aren't any male cheerleaders. Just thought you'd figure it out yourself." he rubbed the back of his head.
" Are you implying that I'm dumb?" I raised a brow and folded my arms.
"No of course not. Maybe you didn't think of it in that way. I'm sure you didn't even consider the mascot thing. I'm so sorry." he rambled. I waited a moment then laughed. he looked at me like I was crazy before chuckling nervously as well.
"It's alright champ. No offense taken." I said and patted his shoulder. "Mascot huh?" I grinned.
"I wanted to do the weirdest thing available in high school." He shrugged.
"I feel like you got that from a movie. Anyway, what did you want to ask me?"
"Oh that. Just for the record, I'm sorry if it seems like I was eavesdropping."
" Eavesdropping on what?" He ignored my question and continued.
" I'm in drama class. I've always loved acting since I was a kid and I've always wanted to go pro on it you know? Be an actor. Join Hollywood and all that. I still do. So um, I heard you talking to Cole the other day and I wondered, since he refused, I could help you. I'll just act the part. It'll be a win-win for both of us." He finished nervously, his face blatantly showing that he hoped I agreed.
I sighed. Letting people down was never my strong suit. "I'm sorry Pierce. He already agreed. We're doing this 'help-me-and-vice-versa' thing." I kinda felt bad for him, he looked so hopeful.
"Oh. Right. Like anyone could refuse that face. I was dumb to ask. Forget it." He waved his hand awkwardly and was about to start walking away when I said "Are you trying the guilt trip thing on me?"
"Is it working?" I shook my head and chuckled. This guy.
"Well, a little...wait who am I kidding? I feel hella bad."
"Sorry that was kinda my intention." He laughed. I rolled my eyes before reaching out my hand to him.
" Congratulations. You're qualified for the job. When do you start?" I asked grinning.
"How about now?" He smirked and shook my hand.
"Now is perfect." I said professionally.
...
