I groaned for what seemed like the billionth time today.

"Aiden Christian Brookes, get out of your room!" I tried pushing him but he didn't budge. "We're going to be late for school." I said exasperatedly.

"Well, all the better because I'm not going to school." he said with finality in a tone.

"Please A, we have discussed this. Emily is out there living her life. Don't give her the satisfaction of not getting over her." I pleaded now resorting to pulling him and leaning back with all my weight.

"You don't get it Roxy, I just can't see her with him." he said miserably not even fazed by my dragging.

I stopped trying to pull him and said "I do get it Aiden. It's hard to move on. Without dad, my life turned upside down I hadn't realized how much I needed him till he left but I got myself back. Sure it may have taken months, years even but I did it because I let go. You need to let go."

When he didn't show signs of coming with me I sighed and began leaving but he held my hand I grinned knowingly.

"That monologue took hours. Don't waste our time, we're going to be late for school." he grinned at me and I playfully rolled my eyes.

"After you sir." I bowed and stretched my hand out like a butler and he laughed before going out of his room. I followed him out and closed the door.

We walked down the hallway ignoring the not-so-silent whispers around us by bystanders.

"Hey did you hear Aiden was dumped?"

"Maybe I'll finally have a chance with him."

"Was he that bad?"

I scoffed at all the comments. Aiden didn't look fazed as we approached our locker. As we were drawing our books out, Asher and Lori came to us.

"Hey guys. Look not be a gossip or anything but are the rumours true?" Lori asked and leaned her back against one of the lockers.

"What rumors?" Aiden asked nonchalantly and shut his locker.

Asher rolled his eyes and said "Don't bug him Lori. You know he left the party earlier than anyone and we saw Emily and Mason together. Isn't it obvious?" he deadpanned. Lori looked hurt and Aiden sighed.

"Hey, it's okay and yes Lori, the rumors are true but you know what I don't care or at least I'm trying not to. Can we drop this please?" he said tiredly.

"Right. I'm so sorry Aiden." Lori put her hand on his shoulder.

"Don't worry you find someone even better." Asher slapped his back. Aiden laughed.

"Thanks guys. Okay we're dropping this now." We all imitated dropping something and nodded before going off to class.

"Roxanne could you answer the question on the board please?" Miss Claire asked, her signature glasses hanging at the tip of a nose. I wondered how it hadn't fallen all those years she's been teaching this class.

"It's negative 6 Ma'am." I answered curtly and continued doodling butterflies at the corner of my book.

"That's correct. Thank you Roxanne." I gave her a brief smile and my head faced back down. I continued doodling with my utmost concentration until someone began kicking my chair I ignored it based on the fact that it might just be his or her leg slipping. That happens right? I was about to forget about it but the kicking persisted even harder and I groaned and turned around to give the person my deadliest glare ever. As I turned around to showcase my glowering skills, my eyes met with Pierces'.

"Pierce? since when were you in this class?" I asked surprisingly.

"Are you kidding? we've been in this class together since the beginning of this session and besides AP Calc is my jam." I giggled at his corny-ness but shut up when the teacher sent a deadly glare in my direction. Hey I was supposed to be the one doing that to Pierce.

"Great. Now Mrs Claire hates me. It's all your fault." I whispered to him harshly and pouted.

"It takes two to tango sissy. Now don't use that tone on me." he replied sassily still whispering.

"Whatever but still you're ruining my spotless record by talking to me so stop." I whisper-shouted.

"Yeah right like I don't have a 'spotless record' too now stop complaining." he said with air quotes.

"Miss Brookes and Mister Stone do you have something to share with the class?" she asked coldly.

"Uhm-"

Long story short we got detention. Two flipping weeks of detention. My bargaining skills sadly didn't work this time. Not my fault she's as cold as ice.

The whole day passed with me muttering more colorful words under my breath and nearly snapping at everyone. I've never gotten detention except for that time when Lori told me about her horrible date and we burst out laughing in the middle of a class and that was so not my fault. I mean, who orders a seafood buffet on the first date?

When school ended, I whimpered before heading off to detention class. Mr Winston; our 70 year old teacher who should have retired ages ago was napping happily at the front desk, drool oozing out of his chapped lips. I looked at my phone before dropping it into the basket and looked around at the people in the class.

Cade the skater boy was the first person that met my gaze. Typical. he was probably riding his skateboard down the hallway again.

Scarlett the badass was there too. She was in a corner concentrating on her phone. I wanted to tell her to drop it in the basket but I thought like she would kill me and send my soul to the Great beyond with just one look. Besides I'm not like those stuck up glasses-like-Harry-potter's nerds who go tattle-tailing on people. I saw three more people I didn't recognize before my eyes landed on Pierces'.
I narrowed my eyes at him and he responded with a bright smile and gestured to comes sit with him.
My gaze turned into a confused one but I went over to sit beside him anyway; begrudgingly of course.

"Hey." he's smiled.

"I'm still mad at you, you know. This is all kind of your fault." he rolled his eyes and shook his head, his curls flopping in the process.

"Yeah yeah I'm sorry." he pouted childishly. I giggled.

"Fine, fine Roxanne the great one has accepted your heartfelt apology." I said in my best Yoda voice.

"And never speak like that again. I mean who was that supposed to be?" he asked amused.

"It's my best Yoda accent." I frowned.

"What disrespect. He never sounded like that." he argued.

"Yes he did. remember that time when-" I got cut short when Mr Winston gave a large grunt but continued snoring away. I bit my lip to stop myself from bursting out into laughter and Pierce to shook his head in amusement.

"You think he'll choke on his own spit drooling like that?" he smirked. I snorted not caring if it sounded unlady like.

"Naa pretty sure he's used to it." We snickered before falling into a comfortable silence.

"Hey, you want to get out of here?" he said suddenly turning his head to me.

"Er no thank you I have no intention of getting detention in detention." I deadpanned.

"It's only 20 minutes till we are done chill and besides everyone's already gone." I looked around and true to his word, not a single person was left in the classroom.

"Okay..." I said unsurely.

"Okay?" he asked raising a brow.

"Okay let's do it." I said with more confidence and smiled and he responded with a bright grin which made my heart rate speed up for a moment.
