lizzie sat quietly beside the lake, thoughts quiet as the sky reflected her mood. her mind was empty and her heart heavy. the winds were chilly. she noticed absent-minded. lizzie had known joy for the first 5 years of her life. after which followed, a never-ending sorrow which continues to plague her till day.

when she was a child, lizzie used to be a very volatile when her mother was forced to work in a brothel. when she watched nasty men who are scum perform unsightly deeds on her kind and lovely mother, it would leave her such angry. the first time, she couldn't control herself and lashed out on the man, her mother's customer, but it only resulted in her broken nose and her mother's back full of whip marks.

she has never hated god more. since that day, she would fist her hands and bite her lips as she hid in the cupboard, watching silent, seething as she saw her mother being subjected to those tortures. she would bite her forearm to quite her sobs as she watched her mother sob as those animals take her again and again.

after each session, she would run to the church and start screaming. she would scream at god. beg him, cajole him, cry, shout, plead, anything to lessen their burden. anything to help them. anything to give them hope. any small mercy. yet he would remain the cold merciless figurine, as he has always been.

lizzie mclean despised god. she still does.

her eyes snapped to her watch, noting the late time and she got up from the lake as she walked to the the tour bus. she stepped in and sat by a window seat, glancing outside the window, ignoring all and every conversations.

~

lizzie mclean stepped forth as the tour started in the castle of volterra. she was impassive watching the figurines. for some reason, natural beauty has always moved her more than man-made ones. she frowned at the tugging in her heart. was she going to die? if she is, then lizzie was again disappointed with the scum called god, because she wanted to climb a mountain and look at the world from the top before dying, which she has not done yet.

heidi stared at the beautiful odd human who has no emotions in her eyes as she stops at random locations.

' what an odd girl. ' heidi thought as she approached her, clearing her throat.

'' miss? '', she asks gently.

the girl seems to come back to reality as she starts walking making heidi scoff. what a rude human. has she no manners? heidi loathes her conduct.

aro had a small smirk on his face, staring ahead with properly concealed anticipation for the silly ignorant humans to enter. through he frowned sensing a tugging on his heart. what is happening? did some damnable witch cursed him?

aro frowned. he had made sure to murder every witch, as caius did to the children of the moon, once they realized their existence. did he perhaps miss one?

the doors open, taking aro's attention away as a gaggle of humans titter and awe stepping forward.

'' welcome, to castle volterra, dear friends. unfortunately this shall be your last destination. '' aro says, clasping his hands in mock cheer. and that was the signal the volturi needed to start feeding.

aro's heart lurched painfully, making him falter a bit. his eyes roved across the room frantic, before connecting with dull royal blue ones. panic like he has never known before filled him as he rushed to the young woman. he caught her in his grasp before anyone else could and growled at a bloodied felix who was about to take her, felix faltered seeing his king's growl.

caius watches confused and Marcus seems to perk up, concentrating for once as he sees the bond between his brother and the human girl. aro crushed lizzie to his chest, very protective as he growls.

marcus speeds to aro and hand him his hand. aro takes his hand, without a single moment of doubt and hope and joy fills him in seeing what his brother has seen. he nods as he speds him and his mate to his chambers.

he puts down his dainty mate who now watches him with her confused dull blue ones.

'' you are very fast. '' she remarks, '' and I am sure I have watched men in the room, drink blood. ''

aro skims his fingers gently across his precious mate's dark chocolate locks. guilt and sorrow like nothing he has ever known fills him at the thought of her losing her life before he could know her fills him.

lizzie watches a bit entranced, at the beautiful man who protected her and is now caressing her hair like she was the most precious thing in the world.

'' you are a vampire or some other preternatural entity. '', lizzie says holding his wrist, which was caressing her hair.

'' I am. a vampire. '' aro confessed, cupping her cheek with his gloved hands. he longed to touch his mate freely. but he would never violate her mind, without her permission. aro will not give his mate any single reason to be displeased of him.

'' why did you save me? '' , lizzie asked watching him with emotionless eyes. and aro despaired again of what his young mate could have ever gone through to turn her into this husk.

'' because you are mine. '' aro says, rubbing his thumb under her eyes gently.

lizzie let out a shaky breath at the sensation, eyes closing before opening again.

'' yours? '' she asks confused.

'' mine. '' aro confirmed.

and so the soulmates met. crimson met indigo. and the world was never the same again.
