Time seemed to slow, there was a raging battle going on behind me. A mere drop of blood dripped from my nose, what felt like minutes before it hit the dirt. And she awoke. Gaia, goddess of the earth, daughter of chaos and mother of giants and titans, awoke.

She rose from the ground slowly, as if rising from a pool of water. But instead of water it was dirt. Her hair was dark and wavy, her skin tan and her eyes green. Not the colour green you would expect like grass or trees, no they were the colour of poison.

"Hello Perseus Jackson" Her voice sent a cold shiver up my spine, it felt as if tree roots grew through the ground like a skeleton hand and with one thin finger touch my Achilles spot, the spot that bound my mortal life.

Then I realised there were tree roots, lots wrapping around my ankles. I slashed them with riptide. This just seemed to amuse the goddess. I felt panic for the first time about there chances, I mean how do a couple of teenagers kill an angry immortal dirt goddess. I was frozen, thinking about what to do as the goddess crept closer.

She clicked her tongue in disappointment "Such a pity, join me Perseus. You know better than anyone that this fight is a lost cause, surrender, be at my side and we will rid the world of humans and their cities. Don't you want that? To get rid of all the people like your very first step father? What did you call him? Smelly Gabe. We can start over Perseus, don't let your friends die because of ignorance."

I thought for a moment, was I really fighting a lost cause? How many people had to die because of me? My mind raced through the names of the deaths from the titan war. There were too many.

"No, this ends with us." I said clutching riptide. I felt a pulling sensation in my gut, If Gaia couldn't die on the ground but maybe I could get her in the air.

"NO!" She screamed enraged but before she could lunge at me a twenty foot geyser shot her into the air holding her at the top. Apparently my powers were strong enough to hold a goddess in
place. I doubted it could for long though. In a split second i was standing on my own geyser, She stood and ripped a strand of hair out. It transformed into a dirt sword. I recognised the blade but I didn't know from where. Right then that was the least of my worries.

I slashed with riptide and dirt fell to the earth but was swallowed by water before it reached the ground. Gaia screamed in pain and swung at my head, missing by mere centimetres. Then I recognised the sword. Two sided and a weapon used by the son of Hermes, Backbiter. The shock gave Gaia a three second advantage and she took it. She swung for my left arm, i raised riptide too late. The blade grazed my torso. I assumed it was just the impact of the hit. My skin was supposed to be invisible, just one spot could kill me and Gaia had no access point to it.

The fight caught the attention of the others. Monsters and demigods stopped fighting and watched, Annabeth being one of them. I saw her out of the corner of my eye, she stopped fighting however her opponent, a blue Hyperion giant didn't. He swung with his club and sent Annabeth flying.

"NO!" I screamed thinking of the worst. That fuelled me. I swung and swung with riptide each hit made more dirt to fall, until nothing was left. I felt weak but I had to find the others. The geysers slowly shrunk until I was safely in the ground. My eyes danced with yellow spots and my knees threatened to buckle under each running step. There were no monsters left. I saw Them, Piper, Leo, Frank, Hazel, Jason surrounded around a broken form. I pushed through and my heart skipped a beat.
