Jieun stood in front of the mirror, adjusting the sleek black velvet dress that fit her like a glove. The high collar added a touch of elegance, while the figure-hugging design exuded confidence. Her hair was pulled back into a chic updo, with loose strands framing her face, giving her a delicate yet bold look. She slid on her earrings, glancing once more at her reflection. It was a special night, Jake's birthday party and she wanted to feel like her old self again, if only for a little while.

"Mom, I'm heading out to Jake's party," she called out as she grabbed her purse.

Her mother, sitting with Yeonji, smiled warmly. "You look stunning, Jieun. I'm sure they'll all be thrilled to see you again."

Jieun kissed Yeonji on the forehead. "I'll be back soon, sweetheart. Be good for grandma."

Yeonji smiled brightly, her attention quickly returning to the toys scattered around her. With a final wave, Jieun left the house, feeling a mix of anticipation and nervousness.

Writer POV

The party was already in full swing by the time Jieun arrived. Jake's upscale venue was buzzing with the sound of laughter, music, and glasses clinking. The space was decorated elegantly, dimmed lights, sleek furniture, and a bar stocked with drinks for every taste. Jake's closest friends mingled, unaware of the surprise Jake had planned for them all. He had been teasing everyone about his "special guest" all night.

As he stood by the door, checking his watch, Jake's face lit up when he saw Jieun approaching. She hadn't told anyone she was coming back, and her sudden reappearance was going to be a moment no one would forget.

Jake stepped outside, closing the door behind him for a moment of privacy before she entered.

Jieun POV

I hadn't expected to feel this nervous. My fingers curled around the small clutch I was holding as Jake stepped out of the party venue, closing the door behind him. He was dressed in a sharp, tailored black suit that made him look every bit the powerful CEO he had become. His eyes sparkled with surprise and amusement as he took me in.

"You really do know how to make an entrance," he said with a low chuckle, shaking his head in disbelief. "I almost didn't recognize you."

I smiled, though my heart raced. "You don't look so bad yourself. Quite the glow-up, Jake."

He grinned. "I'm glad you came. I didn't think you'd actually show up tonight."

I bit my lip. "I almost didn't. But I thought...maybe it's time."

He looked at me thoughtfully for a moment before his expression softened. "You don't know how much we've missed you, Jieun. Everyone's been wondering where you went...and why."

There was a tension in the air, I nodded. "I've missed you all too. A lot."

Jake tilted his head toward the door. "Are you ready for this? They're going to lose it when they see you."
