"Never said that again, and get out of my house, Heeseung," I said coldly, nodding toward the door.

He stood there for a moment, holding his cheek a flash of something unreadable crossing his face before it twisted into a look of disdain.

"You don't deserve to be a father, you're fucking asshole." my voice low but sharp.

With one last glare, he turned and strode out, slamming the door behind him. I listened as his footsteps faded, the echo of his exit reverberating in the quiet house.

When I finally sat down, I felt a strange sense of relief, knowing I'd done the right thing. Heeseung might think he's entitled to answers, but Jieun's past wasn't his to rewrite.

Heeseung pov:

I stormed out of Jake's place, my mind spinning with his words. Anger simmered under my skin, each thought boiling into something darker. When I finally reached my car, I drove fast, the road a blur as I let my frustration take over. By the time I pulled up to my house, my jaw was clenched so tight it hurt.

The moment I stepped into the house, Sora was there, her eyes widening when she saw the look on my face. "Heeseung, what's wrong?" she asked, reaching out to touch my cheek.

I stepped back, avoiding her hand. "Don't," I muttered, eyes sharp on hers. "Is there something I should know, Sora?" My tone was harsher than I intended, but I didn't care. If there was something going on, I was done being left in the dark.

Her face stilled, confusion replacing the concern. "No," she replied, her voice wary. "Heeseung, why are you asking me that?"

I didn't answer. Instead, I turned and made my way to my room, shutting the door behind me. Dropping onto the bed, I ran a hand through my hair, Jake's words echoing like a relentless drumbeat. You're the reason she's been through hell... It felt like he was accusing me of something I didn't even know I'd done.

After a long moment, I pulled out my phone and stared at the screen, debating. There was only one person who might actually tell me what was going on. I opened my messages and typed to Rumi.

Heeseung: "Rumi, I need to know something. Did Jieun ever tell you why she left?"

The message was sent, and I waited, watching the screen with bated breath. Finally, the reply came.

Rumi: "Why do you want to know now, Heeseung?"

Heeseung: "Please, Rumi. I'm in the dark here, and everyone's acting like I should understand. Just tell me... did she ever say why she left?"

A pause, longer than I liked.

Rumi: "Yes, she did. Are you afraid of us knowing the truth?"

The words hit me like a punch. The truth? What truth could there be that was so bad? My mind raced, desperation clawing at me.

Heeseung: "Rumi, please stop talking in riddles. I'm going crazy here. I really love her I swear I did nothing to her"

There was another silence before her next message came through.

Rumi: "Fine. Meet me tomorrow, and I'll tell you what I can. But It's not easy to hear."
