Heeseung's pov

I was leaving my car, deep in thought, when I noticed a familiar figure. My steps faltered as I froze in place. I squinted, almost certain my eyes were deceiving me. Jieun? My heart skipped a beat, and I felt the air leave my lungs.

"Jieun!" I called out, the name escaping my lips before I could stop myself.

She turned slowly. Her eyes met mine, and for a moment, it felt like time froze. The world around us faded, leaving just the two of us standing there, staring at each other. She looked stunning more mature, more confident, but still so unmistakably Jieun.

"Hi," she said, her voice steady, but distant, like we were strangers now.

Before I could say another word, a car pulled up beside us. Jungwon. He rolled down the window and smiled. "Hey, Heeseung, long time no see. Jieun, come on, let's go inside."

"Oh jungwonie! I will be in shortly"she said to him with a soft smile.

He got out of the car, walking over to a little girl who had been standing quietly beside Jieun. she looked so much like Jieun. The resemblance was undeniable. He picked her up gently, and she wrapped her arms around his neck as he carried her into the house without a second glance.

After Jungwon disappeared inside, I turned back to Jieun. For a moment, I couldn't speak but after few seconds, trying to mask the flood of emotions swirling inside me. "How are you doing?"

"I've been fine," she replied, her voice neutral but with an edge of finality.

I swallowed hard. "You left so suddenly. None of us knew where you went. I went crazy, Jieun. I couldn't understand it I didn't know why you cut off everyone."

Her eyes flickered, a mix of emotions flashing across her face, but she kept her guard up. "I had my reasons," she said, quietly.

I ran a hand through my hair, frustrated. "I tried to reach out, but no one knew where you were. I didn't know what to do with myself. Jieun, I lost my mind after you left."

Jieun sighed, her gaze softening but still unreadable. "Heeseung, I needed to get away."

My heart clenched "Whatever I did... I never even knew what it was."

She looked at me, her expression hardening again. "Heeseung. What's done is done."

I stared at her, speechless. I wanted to tell her how much I suffered how I'd stayed up countless nights replaying everything, wondering where it all went wrong. But seeing her like this, calm and composed, made me realize that the years apart had changed her. She wasn't the same girl who had once held my heart

"I... I was lost without you," I confessed quietly, the words slipping out. "I thought you were my everything."

For a second, I thought I saw something in her eyes, but it quickly disappeared as she looked away.

"It doesn't matter anymore, Heeseung. You've moved on. We all have" she said, her voice soft but final.

Her words stung like an open wound, but I couldn't stop myself from trying again. "

Jieun, I—"

She cut me off, her voice calm but unyielding. "Heeseung, you have a family now. You're married to Sora." The way she said her name was flat, like it meant nothing to her. "And I have a family too."

I stared at her, confused. "What do you mean?"

Jieun let out a breath, crossing her arms, her gaze unwavering. "I mean, we're both in different places now. Our lives have changed. There's no point in digging up the past when we've both moved on. You should focus on your present, your future. And I'll do the same."

Her words hit me like a punch to the gut. She wasn't just rejecting me she was closing the door on everything we once had.

"I—" I started, but I had nothing left to say. The realization that the woman standing in front of me had become a stranger sank deep into my chest. The Jieun I knew was gone, replaced by someone stronger, more distant.

She turned to leave, but before she walked away, she glanced back at me one last time. "Let's both just let go, Heeseung. It's better that way."

And with that, she walked into the house, leaving me standing there with the weight of her words and the painful reminder that the past was truly out of reach.
