Hello, Dragons! A new chapter has arrived, it's time to read and enjoy!
---
Everything is in the wagon and ready to go, Netty returned bringing Cane awake and informed us that there was no danger nearby, before joining me and Lilia inside the wagon. 'How did he manage to wake up this stone?' I think, totally amazed, before Cane looks at me with those cold eyes and sends a chill down my spine, I lie down on the floor of the wagon, wishing he would stop looking at me.
Nilio, already in front of the wagon, begins the journey, encouraging the horses to move forward. I call them horses, but they are not the same as the horses I have in mind, I don't know why. The wagon starts to move at a decent speed, Cane surprisingly accompanying us on foot, but it shakes a lot because of the holes in the dirt road, at least it's not long until we get to Fóris.
Lying on the floor of the wagon, I see Cane skillfully following us, always with those emotionless eyes. {Netty, why does your brother keep looking at me in a way that would kill me at any moment? This is scaring me.} I say fearfully, I'm thinking he really fits your class. For a moment, Netty looks at Cane, seeing him following us easily, before turning to me. "He wants your materials." He says gesturing slightly to me, but I don't understand what he means, I don't even have any materials with me, so I just tilt my head in curiosity, a normal gesture for me. Lilia sighs and Netty, embarrassed, continues: "He wants your scales to improve his armor and your bones to improve his knives..." When he says this, I'm stunned, I could swear I turned white. "...and he knows you're dangerous, that explains why he keeps looking at you, but you must have noticed that he doesn't express any emotion." I nod, still stunned.
Lilia joins the conversation. "We humans are not born with emotions, but as you can see, most of us have emotions, the reason for this is the ceremony, performed with everyone at the age of 10 in their homeland. In the ceremony, the individual's soul is tied to a magical creature that, in exchange for constantly receiving 5% of the tied person's mana, provides us with emotions. The ceremony is performed by the church, which, in turn, calls this magical creature an angel." Lilia finishes explaining and I am extremely surprised, don't humans have emotions naturally? How crazy, but I wonder why I think it should be different.
Netty explains again, with hesitation on her face. "Cane and I are twins, we both went to the ceremony together to receive emotions, but, unlike me, Cane thinks this idea of receiving emotions... is just bullshit, a way for the church to control your head, to keep you under control, so, after I received emotions, he turned his back and left the ceremony, I, now worried, went after him and found out that he was leaving home and... I decided to come with him, after that we lived in an orphanage in another village and when we were old enough to take care of ourselves, we started living as adventurers." Netty finishes explaining with slight discomfort and I get startled when Cane jumps into the moving wagon and looks at me, his face very close to mine, without a single trace of emotion. "This is personal information, I think it's best not to spread it." He tells me without expressing anger, his emotionless threat makes me sweat cold, he jumps back out of the wagon, before Netty can say anything, how scary...
Now I have a little more of an idea of how things work among humans, I spend a good amount of time absorbing the information in the back of the wagon, a piece without a roof, looking at the road and nature as the wagon moves, the wheels rubbing against the dirt road, the trees passing by and being left behind, but I can't go too long without looking at Cane following the wagon with ease. Tired of looking at Cane, I start looking at the clouds. It's uncomfortable to lie on my back, my weight pressing my wings against the floor of the wagon, but I can ignore it for a while. I don't know why it's so comforting to lie down like this, as if it were something familiar and natural. But the clouds quickly distract me from these thoughts. They've always been something fascinating to me. They take on different and strange shapes so naturally. Although I don't know where this fascination comes from. I like looking at the clouds. Every now and then I see a cloud that leaves me confused as to why a random name pops into my head, like that one that reminds me of a computer. What's a computer? I spend many minutes trying to remember where this computer comes from, but nothing comes to mind, nothing. This is very strange.
