"Well? What is it Eric?" Callen barked into Sam's speaker phone.
"Kensi and Deeks have not checked in. Both of their phones have been disconnected and the GPS chip has been taken out. They are gone." Explained Eric, with a crying, babbling Neil in the background.
"What?" Sam asked shocked.
"I'm sending you the coordinates of their last known location. It is about 50 yards from the crime scene." Neil called from behind Eric.
"Okay, we are on our way." Callen said. Sam floored the little metal petal and the small two door charger sped down the highway toward the woody crime scene.
"Why the hell didn't their phones alert us?" Growled Callen confused.
"Maybe they didn't have time," Sam suggested. Callen glared at him. "It could happen."
"Sure, not the Kensi we know," Callen rolled his eyes.
-.-.-.-
"We are here Eric," Sam said in his ear wig, when they had arrived at the bloody murder scene.
"Where are the Officers? Wouldn't they have scene anything?" Callen observed goggling over the emptiness of the area.
"Yeah, none of the 5 officers that were assigned has checked in since they arrived," Neil sniffed.
"Well, that's interesting..." Sam said pointing at a footprint from a pair of heeled boots.
"Kensi was here all right," Callen said pointing at the line of prints heading toward a small overgrown path.
"Why would they go down here?" Complained Sam following his partner.
"Maybe they saw a clown," joked Callen, laughing at his own joke.
"Ha ha very funny. I should go back and push you in that lake, huh?" Sam threatened.
"Sam..." Callen said pointing at a bloody leaf that he had ducked under.
Both agents froze and pulled their weapons from the small of their backs. Quietly and carefully they crept down the thin passageway into uncharted waters.
Sam's SEAL instinct had instantly kicked in. His partner and her side kick were missing. Wait. No, both his partners were missing.
Callen knew what it was like to feel like he didn't belong in a place and not know what to do. He loved his team and everyone on it. He was half hoping to see Kensi and Deeks smiling at them saying, "False alarm guys,"
But that wasn't true when they approached the clearing. Five bodies of marked LAPD officers littered the dusty ground. Blood trickled from their head and chest wounds.
"Callen over here," Sam said starring a at two smashed cell phones.
"Definitely Kens' and Deeks'," Callen said eyeing the recked phones.
"And that's not all," Sam said half shocked half scared.
"Well?" Callen said questionably looking at what Sam was looking at.
In bloody dirt was a written message, "I told you this wasn't over Sam Hanna, BS."
"Who is "BS"?" Callen asked softly re-reading the message.
"Butch Snipper, he is one of the most dangerous people we have dealt with, he kills officers of all kinds after he tortures them for months." Sam sighed. "And he has Kensi and Deeks."
