So... the world ended. How did that happen? Well let's see.... first people kept using mushrooms for everything now. Coffee, meat, psychedelics, food you name it. Turns out, there's a mushroom you're not supposed to eat, one that can basically infect the body to turn you blue, hairless, and absolutely crazy.

So when people started using this mushroom for instant meals to 'solve world hunger' everyone basically turned into blue monsters. Thankfully for me, I'm allergic to mushrooms so I didn't get infected. Unfortunately for everyone else, it started the apocalypse.

Why didn't I get infected by others you ask? For your information I'm a Boy Scout! Using my survival skills taught by my leader I have been able to maneuver this changing world and escaping the hordes of blue crazies. The only problem is that I need to find a safe haven.

..........................................................

I rummaged through the pantry of an abandoned house. I know it's not Boy Scout thing to do, but I make sure that I leave the owners something, usually my crow friend Twilight's feather. As I walked out of the house he could hear the scuffling of one of those blue creatures. Twilight began cawing as it walked closer to where I was.

I immediately headed back to the campsite I made in the park.

None of the bluescaries I've seen go near anything with grass and plants. They would rather be near bodies than anything else. So I have made the forests and parks my sanctuary when I go scavenge. I head over to my camo tent where I have my necessities stashed away. Twilight perches on a tree branch nearby.

"Thanks for the lookout Twilight. That was a close one!" I hold out some sunflower seeds I once found in a convenience store. She happily flew down and picked at the seeds with content.

"Happy bird!" She exclaimed. Yeah, she can talk.... I guess. Though it's only a few sentences. It has helped me a lot to lure the Bluescaries away from my area.

She flies off to lookout some more and I make sure all my supplies are away as I sleep in my tent.

..........................................................

"Alright! Everything is ready to go." I stand in excitement with all of my belongings in my rucksack. It was the next day and I was ready to get out of this city. The nearest town is a small town several hours away. I take out my map and compass as Twilight takes the lead.

We were heading to Canada, or Alaska. We haven't decided on which one we are to go to. Since the Bluescaries don't like forests we thought that our best option would be somewhere with a lot of vegetation.

It's been a while since we've been walking and there has been no signs of Bluescaries. Twilight has felt comfortable with it that she takes longer breaks on my shoulder. It was around midday and the wildlife has been very prevalent here. Since the apocalypse started a lot of the animals have been living their best lives and thriving.

Twilight's head snapped into a direction and she flew over towards it. At first I was confused, until I heard rustling in a bush over in the direction. As I just about ran away I heard a voice.

"ACK! Get off me stupid bird!!! I'm trying to sleep!"

'That's strange, I thought Bluescaries didn't talk.' He thought. It took him a few more seconds to realize what it was. I rushed over to the rustling bush. Twilight flew away onto a branch nearby as I peered inside.

She looked to be high school age with scrapes and cuts all over her. Her hair was a frizzled and curly mess with Twilight's feathers stuck in them. She wore black shorts and a black bra and a large jersey over it all. She looked up at me and screeched.
