"Niki!!! Come downstairs! The festival already started." Felix held his baby Emiliya who they just adopted from Estonia, and held his oldest Dmitri's hand in his other. Dmitri wanted to dress up like a knight for the Halloween festival. He probably wanted to be a knight since he heard that Nikolai wanted Felix to be a prince.

"I come down now!" The thumps of footsteps resonated down the stairs. Nikolai came into the room with a formal suit. It was elegant and it fit him in all the right places. While Felix's costume had gold buttons with a frosty blue mix, Nikolai's had a mix of white with gold buttons and mixes of crimson red in his costume. They both complemented each other and looked like they were going to a fancy ball. Felix blushed at the sight of his husband.

"Almost forgot." Nikolai immediately rushed into the kitchen and brought out two golden cut out crowns. "Now we look as princes should." Nikolai placed one of the crowns on top of Felix's head.

"Daddy, Papa!" Alya walked up to her dads, she was adopted from Belarus. She wore a poofy pink dress with fairy wings and a little stick for a wand. "You look very pretty!"

"Thank you my little angel!" Felix bent down and kissed the top of her head. She giggled in response and ran to go find her shoes. "Dmitri darling, look! Now you have two princes to protect! You think you can protect us my little knight in shining armor?"

Dmitri, who was still holding Felix's hand, scowled and looked away.

"Papa strong, he protect himself. I must protect you, daddy. You need protecting." He squeezed Felix's hand as he tried to explain in broken English that he just wants to protect him. Felix chuckled as Nikolai huffed in amusement. Nikolai ruffled his son's hair in a comforting way.

"I trust you to protect my prince. Okay Dmitri?" His son looked up to him in determination and nodded vigorously.

"Well now that we all are down here let's get this show in the road!"

...............................................

"I wanna go on the wheel!!!" Alya and a couple of the other girls squealed as they rushed to the Ferris Wheel nearby.

"Be safe girls! ...aaand they're gone." Felix laughed in amusement. The kids's dedushka took their boys and the little ones to the carnival games, but Dmitri stuck by Felix's side holding his wooden sword to whoever came near them. Nikolai stood on the other side of Felix holding his hand as they walked around the grounds of the festival. They wandered around watching others bob for apples in a barrel, parents helping children carve out the pumpkins, and young couples going into the haunted house set up. There was a chill in the wind as they evening turned dark. The warm glow from the lights surrounded the area in a relaxed and cheerful ambiance.

Nikolai looked over to his husband. Felix's face was pink from the cold. His eyes happily looked at all of the decorations and the people. His hazel eyes reflected the lights from the festival, and his smile was calm and content. He smiled at his husband and squeezed his hand. Felix looked up at him and gave him a lopsided grin.

Dmitri started tugging at Felix's sleeve. "Daddy! Hot apple juice!!"

"Okay, okay, we're going!"

They walked over to the stand. An older lady was pouring steaming apple cider from a ladle into the cups. Dmitri strode over to the old woman and held out his hands. She smiled and gave an already poured cup of cider into his hands. He thanked her in Russian and walked back to his dads. He brought the steaming cup to his face, closed his eyes, and smelled the fragrance of apple and cinnamon waft into his nose. He smiled softly as he blew the steaming drink and took a small sip.

"Does it taste good Dmitri darling?"

"Mmhm..."

Felix smiled and rubbed his young son's back. Nikolai kissed Felix's temple as he walked to the stand to retrieve them cups of the cider as well. He came back and handed his husband the cup. They both took a sip and relished the warmth.

"Papa! Daddy! We come back!!" Their little girls rushed over to the three and hugged both Felix and Nikolai.

"How was the Ferris Wheel?"

"So much fun!! We go up real high and saw the whole town!" Little Katerina exclaimed.

She was the second oldest and was adopted from Ukraine. Her costume was of little red riding hood, her little brother Artyom, from Bulgaria, wanted to be the big bad wolf. Funny enough, three of their girls found out about Artyom being a wolf and wanted to be the three little pigs. Each of the kids' costumes were inspired by another kid's costume. Like how another one of the kids found out about the three little pigs, and dressed up like a farmer.

The girls found out about the apple cider and each had their own little cups. Alya accidentally burned her tongue on the apple cider and had to wait until she could drink it again. The group decided to walk some more until they found Artyom halfway into the apple bobbing barrel. Nikolai in a state of panic rushed over to the stand and grabbed Artyom's waist. He lifted him out of the barrel in one swift motion. As Artyom was set to the ground he pumped both of his hands into the air. In his mouth was a big juicy red apple he managed to stick into his mouth.

"Ay goth ith!!!" Artyom shouted with the apple still in his mouth. The grouped laughed and the other people clapped and cheered for him. The owner of the stand handed him a candied apple on a stick as a reward. Although Nikolai had to pry out the already stuck apple from his mouth so that he could eat the reward.

.............................................

They spent a few more hours playing carnival games and reunited with dedushka and the rest of the kids. Nikolai managed to win Felix a stuffed bear called the Teddy Bear that was all the rage recently. After trick or treating with the kids it got late and the children started falling asleep. They walked back home and dedushka left for his house down the block.

Felix and Nikolai prepared the kids for bed, tucked each kid in, and kissed them goodnight. When Felix got to Dmitri he kissed his head.

"Thank you for protecting me my little knight."

Dmitri smiled and his eyes fluttered to sleep. Felix smiled warmly and quietly left the room. He entered their bedroom and plopped onto the bed with a sigh. Nikolai had already settled down into the bed and was reading a book given to them by one of their neighbors as a housewarming gift. Nikolai rolled his eyes at the pitiful sight of his husband.

He checked to see if Felix was asleep, and sure enough, he had immediately crashed as his body hit the mattress. He huffed in amusement and carefully lifted him into bed. He pulled the covers onto the both of them and kissed his forehead. Felix unconsciously turned toward his husband and wrapped his arms around him into a snuggle.

Nikolai continued to read as time passed. When he finished his chapter he turned off his lamp. He lifted the covers to wrap him into its embrace and wrapped his arms around Felix. They both slept soundly content on their first Halloween as a family together. They both slept on dreaming about the Halloweens of the decades to come, and how lovely it would be to spend the rest of them together.

The End

A/N: That was the Nikolai and Felix Halloween two parter! I loved writing aboot them and their first Halloween together as a family.

Halloween didn't become popular until the mid 1920s so that's when I decided they should do their first Halloween. So in my headcanon, a lot of sub humans moved over to New Hope, Pennsylvania for the peace and scenery of the area. Originally New Hope was founded in the late 18th Century (old 1700s). The reason why Felix and Nikolai weren't being discriminated was because of the influx of sub humans. So they were more tolerant since sub humans were allowed same sex marriages due to the government wanting to appease and keep them in the country.

My town is currently hosting a festival tonight and I'm so excited!!! They don't do pumpkin carving or apple bobbin, but the festival is very much different than most I've been to the past years in other towns.

Anyway I hope you're doing well wherever you are and I'll catch you on the flip side!
