The summer before Harry’s sixth year was filled with preparations. Godric’s Hollow became a base of operations for the Order of the Phoenix, with Sirius, Remus, and Lily constantly on the move, coordinating with other members. Petunia, though not an official part of the Order, played a vital role behind the scenes. Her knowledge of the mystic arts and her experience with ancient, darker forms of magic gave the Order an edge they hadn’t had before.
Harry, though still young, was drawn deeper into the Order’s plans. His time spent training with Petunia became more frequent and intense. She taught him about the magical forces beyond the wizarding world, showing him how to manipulate energy without relying solely on his wand. She knew that if Harry were to face Voldemort again, he needed to understand that his true power didn’t just come from his connection to his parents or his role as the Chosen One, but from the depths of his own potential.
As the days passed, Harry’s connection to his family deepened. He had always loved his mother, and Sirius had been like a father figure to him, but now he saw them as comrades in a war that would decide the fate of their world. And Petunia, the aunt he had once thought was incapable of understanding magic, had become one of his greatest allies.
One evening, as Harry sat in the kitchen with his mother and Petunia, he asked the question that had been on his mind for months.
"Why didn't you ever tell them, Aunt Petunia?" he asked, his voice quiet but curious. "That you knew magic, about everything?"
Petunia looked at him, her eyes softening with a mix of regret and love. "I wanted to, Harry. But there was a time when I was jealous of your mother, of her magic. I thought the world she belonged to had no place for me. But then... I found my own path, and by the time I could have told them, it was too dangerous to get involved. I thought I could protect you better by staying in the shadows."
Lily placed a hand on her sister’s. "We both made mistakes, Harry. But everything we’ve done has been to keep you safe."
Harry nodded, understanding more than ever that the sacrifices his family had made went far beyond what he’d initially known. And now, as the storm of war approached, he knew he had to step up and fight—not just for himself, but for everyone he loved.
