"What are you doing here?"
"Reconnecting with nature."
Jisung sat beside Selene, who was twirling blades of grass between her fingers. Hesitantly, he did the same.
"Why are we doing this?" he asked.
"My hangover's so bad, I need it."
"Is it helping?"
"No."
They both sighed heavily.
"Where did you disappear to last night?" Jisung asked.
"Woke up in some guy's bed. I think he was eighteen. I ran before he woke up," Selene said, looking a bit disturbed as she plucked at the grass more aggressively. "You?"
"Pretty much the same," he muttered. Selene glanced at him. "But he was sixteen."
"Oh, Lee?" she asked casually, before her eyes widened in realization. "YOU SLEPT WITH HIM?!"
"Yes. I mean, we just slept in the same bed. He took care of me. I was passed-out drunk."
"Oh, that makes more sense." She nodded, her expression easing.
Then they kept silent. It was a pretty deplorable scene, actually: both of them sporting dark circles under their eyes, pale skin, mouths half-open.
"Wait," Selene said after a few minutes. "That doesn't make sense. You guys are friends now? He just took care of you? I thought we agreed we were getting revenge. Wait—his bed?"
"I think he felt sorry for me," Jisung said, not in the mood for long explanations. "I threw up in front of him."
Selene burst out laughing. "Wait, wait—you what? How did he react?"
"I don't really remember," he admitted, then tried to recall. "I think he... No. Actually, I just remember the most embarrassing bits. Like, I'm pretty sure I asked him to stroke my hair."
"I can't picture that," Selene said, though by now, nothing Jisung did surprised her. He had a knack for getting into ridiculous situations. "You know, I think he likes you."
"What?" Jisung blurted, his face reddening.
"Yeah. I can't imagine him putting up with all that for anyone else, not even Kim Seungmin, and that's like, his best friend."
Oh. Liking in that way.
"Then again, I don't really know him that well," she added, as if backtracking. "Maybe he's just a good friend. Wait. Have I ever even spoken to Lee? Like, ever?" They were both fucked up and had burned out every single braincell with vodka so she kept trying to think.
"That's weird. I feel like you would get along." Jisung said. "Or kill each other. No in between." After that he laid down on the ground, staring at the cloudy sky. "Try this. I think I'm reconnecting with nature now."
Selene followed. She pointed to one of the clouds, "Oh, look at that cloud!"
"Oh! It looks like a cat," Jisung said, thinking of Chicken.
"What? I was going to say it looks like a penis."
"No it doesn't." Jisung denied, indignant. She didn't know but she was basically saying Chicken was shaped like a dick.
"Mate, yes, it does. Those are the balls," she pointed out. Jisung had to admit he could see it now.
"I don't see it at all." But he wasn't going to admit it now. "I think you are a very damaged lady."
