When Jisung came down to the Common Room, Selene was already there.
He rolled his eyes internally. Hyunjin and Chan had totally stolen Selene from him. He must have been so wrapped up in Quidditch and Minho that he hadn't even noticed when they started liking her more than him.
Quidditch and Minho. Minho. His stomach churned, and it wasn't just from the vodka shots he'd taken the night before.
"Morning," Jisung mumbled as he rubbed his eyes and made his way to the couch. Selene and the others greeted him with smiles.
"Aw, Ji, you look so cute when you wake up," Selene said, ruffling his hair, which was probably a mess already. He hadn't bothered to change before coming down.
"It was just one of those nights," Jisung muttered. He'd had a terrible night of sleep. The moment his head hit the pillow, he started replaying all his interactions with Minho, overanalyzing everything, spiraling into his own essay on attraction and what it all meant.
"You literally went to bed at midnight," Hyunjin said, shaking his head like he was disappointed in Jisung's low resistance (which was fake, by the way).
"And you went to bed with a Slytherin," Jisung shot back, deflecting. He was pretty sure he'd seen Hyunjin making out with a Slytherin the night before, which was weird. Why would a Slytherin even be at their party (besides Selene) when they'd just lost the game they were celebrating?
"Not to bed," Hyunjin defended himself. "It was just innocent hanging out."
"Innocent? I saw tongue," Chan said, looking mildly disturbed by the memory. Jisung hadn't seen it that clearly, but he believed it.
"Tongue? I saw touching. Lots of it," Selene added, looking entertained rather than disapproving.
"Well, that too," Chan agreed, nodding.
"You weirdos need to stop watching me while I make out," Hyunjin whined. He didn't sound as embarrassed as Jisung would have expected him to be.
"What about Jeongin?" Jisung asked, remembering Hyunjin's rants about him. He'd spent half the night talking about Jeongin, so that was a little confusing.
"Jeongin doesn't want to kiss me, and I am a man of needs," Hyunjin said with a dramatic sigh. "And I didn't pursue him anyway. He chased me the whole night, so I couldn't exactly say no," he added with a shrug, as if he had no choice in the matter.
"You totally could've said no," Selene pointed out. "He only asked once."
Hyunjin groaned. "It was just a kiss!"
Jisung couldn't imagine kissing someone randomly at a party like Hyunjin and Selene did. Then again, he couldn't really imagine kissing anyone at all.
"Hey, Sel, want to take a walk on the bridge?" Jisung asked softly, feeling bored with the party talk. Plus, he wanted to catch up with her alone.
The three of them stood up at the same time.
Jisung blinked. Oh. Awkward. "Uh, I— Actually need to talk about something with Selene." They stared blankly, and so he added, "It's private."
"Oh," Chan said, clearing his throat. "Sure. I have a check-up at the Hospital Wing anyway." He offered Jisung a kind smile.
"Yeah, and I have to... give him company?" Hyunjin said, trying to sound convincing.
As they walked down the bridge, the peaceful silence between them was broken by Selene's voice. "So, what did Lee Minho do now?"
