Jisung flexed his fingers inside the heavy cast as he walked down the corridor, still grumbling about the nurse's decision. Two days in a cast for a sprain? It felt like overkill, especially when he didn't want to attract any more attention. He stuffed his injured hand into his robe pocket, hoping no one would notice.
But this was Hogwarts. Here, everything had a way of spiraling out of control faster than he could keep up with.
By the time he reached the Gryffindor common room, Jisung's head was swirling with too many thoughts. His mood worsened when he spotted Lexi and Izzie lounging by the fireplace, clearly up to no good.
"Hey, Cast!" Lexi called out, waving with an exaggerated grin. "How's the hand?"
Jisung sighed before approaching. "You heard already?"
"Of course! Lindsay gave us all a dramatic speech about your 'little act'—talked about the importance of showing up and how 'fundamental' these practices are." Lexi rolled her eyes. Clearly, she wasn't a fan of Lindsay either. "She expects you to show up tomorrow."
"A portrait told me," Izzie added.
"You talk to those?" Jisung asked, surprised. The portraits were one of the things he hated most about Hogwarts. Sure, they were fun at first, but the novelty wore off after the first couple of months.
"They get lonely," Izzie shrugged. "Anyway, don't listen too much to Lindsay. She's, uh... not in the best shape right now."
Jisung nodded tiredly. "Well, I'm heading off."
"So early?" Izzie asked.
"Yeah. It's been a long day." He sighed again. "Goodnight."
The girls exchanged a quick glance that Jisung couldn't quite decipher.
"Wait," Lexi called out suddenly. "Stay a bit."
He hesitated. He was tired, and they were probably just being polite. "Thanks, but..."
"Seriously," Izzie cut in. "Stay. We're sneaking down to the kitchens tonight. You in?"
Jisung blinked. "Why?"
"Because it's fun?" Lexi shrugged. "And we're hungry. Missed dinner."
Jisung considered for a moment. The weight of the day hung heavy on him. Maybe doing something reckless—at least by his standards—would help him forget about Minho, Quidditch, and how useless he felt.
"Fine," he said, nodding. "Who else?"
"VIP invitation only," Izzie grinned.
"Are we sure this is a good idea?" Jisung asked, glancing over his shoulder. He could have sworn he heard something, like footsteps in the distance, but it was probably just the castle settling.
"Relax, Jisung. It's not like we're breaking any rules," Izzie said, clearly unconcerned. "We're just getting a late-night snack."
Jisung raised an eyebrow. "It's one in the morning."
"Details, details." Lexi waved him off. "Besides, it's not like anyone patrols this part of the castle at night."
He was about to refute that, when he bumped into a body. His heart dropped, thinking this is it, and he is finally gaining detention for the first time.
That's when a 'lumos' is whispered and a wand pointed at him. His eyes flickered trying to get a look to...
"Lee?!" Jisung whispered. Of course. OF COURSE IT'S HIM.
