Charlie's point of view
"So you ready?" Chase bursted in my room.
Sitting on the chair, looking for ideas for their two months project, I turned around and couldn't help but express a wondering face.
"Why you dressed up like that?" I asked.
"Like what?"
"That."
"Elaborate?" Chase asked.
"You are...well dressed."
"Are you insinuating that I look like shit daily?"
"Your smartness is a godsend, brother."
"And your neglecting a blessing."
"Elaborate?"
"Lord. Forgive this child. For I can't no more." He sarcastically replied, raising his head in the ceiling. "Tal's birthday party is for tonight. And we're ten minutes late already. Now hurry up and meet me downstairs."
"I told you I won't be there. I've got things to work on and we have a test in three days. Dad probably won't let me go."
"I talked to dad. He agreed as long as we get back home before eleven."
"He accepted? Dad accepted?" I asked, surprised.
"Yes he did."
"Spontaneously?" she added, messing with her brother to test his patience.
"Yes, spontaneously." He replied in despair. "Now please hurry up, we've just missed zero hour, eleven minutes and thirty seconds as we speak."
"Do I still have time to shower?"
"Move!" he shouted before slamming the door behind him as I laughed at his despair.
A few moment later, I finally irrupted downstairs dressed up casually but nice enough for a party.
What does that even mean?
Anyway, I joined my brother in the kitchen who sitting next to dad, impetuously waiting for me.
"I didn't plan to go. I have no gift to offer him." I asserted.
"Don't worry. Your presence is already one. Plus, I already took care of that."
"Since when did you start taking care of things, Chase?" I asked, suspicious about the gift.
"You done? 'Cause we're leaving."
Charlie hugged dad before hitting the road. We finally made it to the party. It was a very loud party.
The hell am I say? That's how partys are supposed to be, no?
There were bunch of people I didn't have the occasion to meet yet. Then suddenly, while still diving in my thoughts a masculine voice irrupted within the noisy background.
"Ayo! Wassup man!" Tal shouted, along with another girl.
"Heya! Happy birthday bud!" Chase replied with a hug.
"Thanks, dude! Hey Charlie! I'm glad you could make it for tonight."
We had a brief chat, made fun of each other before Tal received his gift. I was as curious as himself to know the contents as he immediately unwrapped it. It was a black shirt with Samuel Jackson's famous facial expression on the epic movie Pulp Fiction - eyes widened ready to kill the devil - and down the picture were written Bad Motherfucker.
Chase! What did you do!
"Dang it man! This couldn't be any better!"
"Yeah. Charlie had the idea this morning." Chase added, coolly. "Knew you'd love it."
