Pitt's point of view

After the competition, we headed to a nearby fast-food to celebrate my first step into the swimming competition of the year. Laughter and happiness filled our conversation as we teased each other and reminded funny stories of our past, bonding us even tighter.

“So, what’s the weirdest food combo you’ve ever tried?” I asked Charlie, taking a bite of my fried potatoes.

“I think it’s Pineapple on Pizza.” she laughed, adding pepper to her salad. “I mean…what is that recipe anyway? It’s like tropical holidays served on a plate.”

“Damn true! How did you even end up eating that stuff?” Liv wrinkled her nose.

“It was a dare last year at a friend's birthday.” Chase laughed. “She almost vomit her tongue that night, right after. Poor little soul."

“No, the real dare I swear was when Josh had the brilliant idea to try out a new milkshake recipe.” Tal snickered.

“Admit it was a genius culinary idea, guys!” Josh defended himself. “Have you ever tried the ketchup milkshake?” he then asked the others.

“I hope I won't have to.” Liv declared, feigning to vomit.

“I mean man, what were you thinking?” Tal reasserted.

“Was he even thinking?” I added as they all laughed their heart out.

“What is that?” Charlie stated. “A stomachache recipe?”

“It was art.” he replied proudly.

“More like a mistake.” Liv asserted, chuckling.

“In the end guys, I think it's safer to stick on burgers.” Chase concluded.

“And fried potatoes.” I added.

We kept on chatting until late at night. In that moment, surrounded by caring friend, I realized that the pressures of competition or my parents didn’t have to define me. Tonight has been about more than just winning; it was about friendship, support and discovering new strength, new purposes, new meanings. And I was thankful those people around me helped me see things clearer.

Later on, Tal decided to drive Liv and the others back home while Charlie decided to stick with me. Lately after they left, we then reached the Page’s front porch. She hopped off the bike, the silence enveloping us. We shore one last glance at each other and somehow I felt something different now—sparks perhaps. Something I never really experienced before nor felt for anyone. A feeling that seemed to belong in to my imagination than my reality. Tonight, that feeling had appeared so many uncountable times and deep down, I just hoped all of these wasn't just some sweet illusions.

“Thanks for the ride.” Charlie said, putting her hands in her hoodie pockets.

“Thanks for coming tonight.” I smiled at her. “It really meant a lot to me.”

“I couldn't miss my partner’s first start.” she winked, as we both snickered. “I’ll see you at school then."

“Yeah…Good night.”

“Night…” she replied back before turning her back and directing toward the front door.

“Oh! Hey Charlie!”

“Yes?” she turned back to me.

“I…hum. When do we start working on your idea for the project?”

Charlie's eyes widened as she couldn't believe her ears.

“Are you saying that you..?”

“Yes, I’m on it.” I cut her off with a chuckle. “So tell me, what will we be needing?
