Chapter 4: The Whispering Shadows
[Scene: Rajpur Girls Hostel, Room No. 13. The morning light fills the room, but the tension from the previous night still lingers. Everyone is on edge, processing Pihu's chilling words: "Tum log soch rahe ho... main kaise mar gayi? Tum mein se ek ko pata hai." The group sits together, their faces pale with unease.]
(In the background, the title song plays softly, the eerie melody barely audible at first, like a distant whisper carried by the wind.)
Alka: (nervously) Kal raat ko jo hua... hum sabko dikh raha tha, right? Pihu wapas aayi thi?
(The melody of the title song continues in the background, soft and haunting:
Chhupi hai kahani, ek purani kahani…
The music fills the silence, making the air heavy with dread.)Smruti: (hugging her knees) Yeh sab mere samajh ke bahar hai. Pihu... bhoot kaise ho sakti hai? Hum uske saath itna time guzare hain.
Rupali: (shaking her head) Usne jo kaha... usmein kuch toh sach tha. "Tum mein se ek ko pata hai." Uska matlab kya hai?
(The soft, echoing tune continues:
Room ke kone mein, ek raaz hai chhupa…
It's not loud, but enough to unsettle the group. The sound seems to come from nowhere, filling every corner of the room.)Pragya: (quietly) Pihu ki maut... hum sab bhoolne ki koshish kar rahe the, lekin shayad kuch humne miss kiya hai.
(There’s a knock at the door, cutting through the soft melody, startling everyone. The song continues to hum beneath their conversation, as if the room itself is breathing it.)
Preeti: (whispering) Phir se? Ab kya?
Sheetal: (gulps nervously) Main dekhti hoon.
(Sheetal slowly opens the door, but no one is outside. A cold breeze sweeps in, carrying with it the faint hum of the same haunting melody. The title song becomes slightly louder, still without words, just the haunting music filling the air.)
Sheetal: (whispers) Yeh kaun...?
(A piece of paper flies in through the open door and lands on the floor. Smruti hesitates, then picks it up. The background melody intensifies slightly, creating an eerie, suspenseful mood.)
Smruti: (reading aloud, voice shaking) “Mujhe yaad hai. Tum sab bhool gaye, par main nahi. Woh raat, jab tumne mujhe wahin chhod diya tha…”
(As the girls exchange nervous glances, the soft melody continues to hum in the background, giving the room a surreal, otherworldly feel.)
Mandakini: (wide-eyed) Yeh... woh raat thi jab Pihu...?
Sanskriti: (nervously) Humne kuch galat nahi kiya tha, right?
Ipshita: (voice trembling) Tum log yeh kyun keh rahe ho? Humne toh kuch nahi kiya tha... Pihu ki maut ek accident thi... ya nahi?
(The eerie background music swells slightly, as if to answer the question, but no words come. Just the haunting hum of the melody.)
(Suddenly, Pihu’s faint voice cuts through the air, startling everyone.)
Pihu’s Voice: (whispers) Ya nahi…
(The title song fades into the background once more, the unsettling melody continuing to play softly as Pihu’s voice echoes through the room, coming from nowhere.)
(Without warning, the lights flicker, and the temperature drops. The song grows louder, now more foreboding, as the diary on the table flips open by itself, the pages turning rapidly.)
Pihu’s Voice: Tum log soch rahe ho... main kaise mar gayi? Tum mein se ek jaanta hai…
(The room is plunged into eerie silence as the title song continues to hum softly in the background, its ominous melody wrapping the group in a cocoon of fear.)
Subhasmitha: (almost in tears) Yeh ho kya raha hai? Pihu kya chah rahi hai humse?
(The lights go out completely, leaving them in pitch-black darkness. The melody continues in the background, as if the room itself is alive with the sound.)
Pihu’s Voice: Ek room, ek raaz, ek bhootni ka intezaar…
(The song plays on, soft but ever-present, as if it's a part of the hostel itself. The girls are left in darkness, surrounded by the chilling hum of the title song as Pihu’s last words echo in their ears.)
