Chapter 5: The Night of the Forgotten Sin
[Scene: Rajpur Girls Hostel, Room No. 13. The night is thick with tension. Everyone is on edge after the recent strange events. Pihu's voice, the slamming doors, and the cryptic messages have unsettled them all. They sit huddled together in the center of the room, the dim light casting long shadows on the walls.]
(Outside, the wind howls, and the faint hum of the title song is heard in the background—low and almost indiscernible, but constant, as if the very air in the room is vibrating with it.)
Rupali: (nervously) Yeh jo sab ho raha hai... humein kuch samajh nahi aa raha. Pihu kya chahti hai humse?
Preeti: (frustrated) Humne kabhi uske baare mein kuch galat nahi kiya! Uske death ko toh sab accident maan rahe the... phir yeh sab kyun ho raha hai?
Smruti: (shaking) Pihu ne kaha ki tum mein se ek ko pata hai. Kya hum sabko us raat ke baare mein sach mein sab yaad hai?
(The air grows colder, and the eerie background melody from the title song becomes a little louder, sending a shiver down their spines.)
Alka: (whispering) Tum logon ko yaad hai woh raat? Hum sab ek saath thay... lekin sab kuch toh thik lag raha tha.
Pragya: (suddenly) Yaad karo, us raat Pihu humse alag ho gayi thi. Jab hum log wapas aaye toh woh wahin pada tha... uska face... uski aankhein... (pauses, shivering) sab kuch... wrong tha.
Sheetal: (quietly) Lekin hum usse usi waqt hospital le gaye the, yaad hai na? Doctor ne kaha tha ke... she was gone before we even got there.
(A silence falls over the group, the faint melody now echoing through the room like a chilling lullaby.)
Sanskriti: (voice cracking) Magar... kya doctor sahi tha? Pihu ne apni last breath... kya humare saamne li thi? Ya…?
(The lights flicker. Everyone freezes. The wind outside grows stronger, rattling the windows. A cold chill spreads through the room. Suddenly, the sound of footsteps echoes in the corridor outside.)
Ipshita: (whispers, terrified) Koi... wapas aa raha hai.
(The footsteps grow louder, but no one dares move. The door creaks open slowly, but the hallway beyond is empty. The wind howls through the open door, making the eerie melody even more unsettling.)
Mandakini: (whispering) Yeh darwaza khul kaise gaya? Koi... andar aaya?
Pihu’s Voice: "Tum sabko yaad hai ab? Woh raat, jab tumne mujhe akela chhoda tha..."
(The voice comes from all directions at once, surrounding them. The girls huddle together, their faces pale with fear.)
Sonali: (crying) Humne tumhe akela nahi chhoda tha! Hum wapas aaye the... tumne hi kaha tha ki tum thik ho!
Pihu’s Voice: "Jhoot... tum logon ne kabhi wapas dekha hi nahi tha. Tumne mujhe wahaan... marrne ke liye chhoda tha."
(The words hit them like a sledgehammer. The realization sinks in slowly, and the memory of that night returns—fragmented but vivid.)
[Flashback to that fateful night]
(It’s raining heavily. The group is at an old, abandoned building on the outskirts of the campus. They were playing a dare game, laughing, but Pihu was anxious. She kept saying she didn’t want to go inside, but they pressured her into it. Inside, they explored the dark corridors, until Pihu screamed.)
Pragyan: (in the flashback) Guys, come on, she's just being dramatic. Let’s keep going!
(The others laughed, thinking Pihu was scared for no reason. But after a while, they noticed Pihu had gone silent. When they found her, she was on the floor, her eyes wide open in terror, gasping for breath. Panicked, they fled, thinking she would follow. But she didn’t.)
[Back to the present]
Rupali: (whispering, horrified) Hum... hum usse chhod kar chale gaye the...
Pihu’s Voice: "Yaad aaya? Tum sab bhool gaye, par main nahi bhooli."
(The lights flicker violently. The wind inside the room grows stronger, and the melody swells to a crescendo, the haunting tune of the title song filling the room completely now, as if Pihu’s presence is overpowering everything.)
Pihu’s Voice: "Ab tumhe yaad aayega... har pal."
(Suddenly, the room plunges into complete darkness. A scream echoes through the air, but it's not from one of the girls—it’s Pihu’s scream, from that night. The haunting sound fills the air as the cold rushes in. The girls are left in the dark, knowing the truth, but unsure if they’ll ever escape the consequences of what they did.)
