Chapter 6: The New Arrivals and the Haunting Laughter
[Scene: Rajpur Girls Hostel, Room No. 13. The tension from the previous events still lingers. The group is gathered, huddling close, discussing the strange memories and eerie happenings surrounding Pihu’s ghost. Just then, three new girls enter the room—Anuska Shah, Rani Jha, and her twin sister Manisha Jha. All three are science students who have just moved into the hostel.]
Alka: (whispering to the group) Yeh kaun hain? Aur humare kamre mein kya kar rahi hain?
Rani: (cheerfully) Hi, guys! Mujhe Rani kehte hain aur yeh meri twin Manisha hai. Yeh hai Anuska, humara ek aur dost.
Manisha: (with a grin) Hum naye hain yahan, par sunne mein aaya hai ki Room 13 mein kuch interesting ho raha hai.
Anuska: (laughs) Haan, bas humein aur kya chahiye? Haunted room, aur free mein horror story! Hum toh excited hain!
(The original group exchanges nervous glances, unsure of how much to reveal.)
Preeti: (forcing a smile) Umm... tum logon ko yahan rehna hai?
Rani: (with a mischievous grin) Haan, kyun? Humne toh suna hai yeh room bada ‘happening’ hai. Aur waise bhi, thoda adventure toh banta hai, right, Anuska?
Anuska: Bilkul! Haunted ya horror, hum sab sambhal lenge! (laughs)
(Just then, the lights flicker, and an eerie silence falls over the room. The group stops smiling, their faces turning serious as a cold chill fills the air. The background hum of the title song begins to play softly, adding a layer of suspense.)
Rupali: (whispering to the new girls) Yeh koi mazaak nahi hai. Pihu... woh sach mein yahan hai.
Manisha: (smiling) Achha? Woh bhootni wali baatein na, humare liye nahi hain. Rani aur main toh aise hi stories mein interested hain. Tum log humare saath ho, toh kuch nahi hoga!
(As Manisha finishes speaking, the lights flicker again. This time, Pihu’s faint laughter echoes through the room, sending chills down everyone’s spine.)
Pihu’s Voice: “Acha, naye mehmaan aaye hain? Dekhte hain yeh kitne der tak muskura sakte hain…”
Rani: (laughing, thinking it’s all a joke) Arre wah! Yeh toh full-on horror movie vibes hain! (mocking) Bhootni ji, welcome-welcome!
Smruti: (whispers to Preeti) Yeh log abhi tak seriously nahi le rahe. Pihu ki awaaz bhi sun li, phir bhi!
(The lights dim even further, casting long shadows on the walls. Suddenly, the door slams shut with a loud bang. The girls scream, startled.)
Anuska: (nervous laughter) Okay, thoda zyada ho gaya! Yeh toh... really scary ho raha hai!
Manisha: (still trying to be brave) Arre chill karo, shaayad koi prank kar raha hai. Koi speaker ya hidden mic toh nahi rakha?
(Pihu’s laughter grows louder, echoing through the room, but this time it sounds darker, more mocking. The girls huddle closer, fear finally setting in for Rani, Manisha, and Anuska.)
Pihu’s Voice: “Tum log mazaak samajh rahe ho? Tum mein se ek sach yaad rakhta hai… aur ek sach bhool gaya hai.”
Rani: (whispering to Manisha, visibly scared) Yeh... koi prank toh nahi lag raha.
(The lights flicker, and suddenly, in the corner of the room, a shadow appears. It’s faint but unmistakable—the figure of Pihu. Her face is partially obscured, but her eyes glint with mischief and menace.)
Alka: (whispering) Pihu…?
Pihu: (mocking voice) Naye dost bana liye ho? Kitni acchi baat hai. Par main bhi toh dosti nibhane aayi hoon!
(The shadow moves closer, and a chilling wind sweeps through the room. Anuska lets out a squeal, and Rani and Manisha grip each other tightly, finally realizing this is no joke.)
Rani: (panicked) Hum... hum yahan rehna nahi chahte! Hum toh bas mazaak kar rahe the!
Pihu: (sarcastically) Toh chale jao. Par pehle... woh yaad karo jo tum bhool gaye ho. Ek raaz hai... jo ab tak chhupa hai.”
(The lights flicker, and for a brief moment, Pihu’s face is visible—pale, with a haunting grin. She seems to be enjoying the fear she’s instilled in them.)
Manisha: (whispering) Yeh sab kya hai? Yeh sach mein bhoot hai?
Pihu: (softly, almost like a whisper) Sach. Sach ko kaise bhool gaye tum sab? Woh raat yaad hai? Main yaad dilane aayi hoon.
(With a loud bang, the door swings open. The wind howls, and the faint background music from the title song fills the air with an eerie chill.)
Rani: (screaming) Humne kuch nahi kiya! Hum toh naye hain, humein kuch nahi pata!
Pihu: (laughing softly) Naye ho... par yaahan ho. Aur ab... tum bhi iss raaz ka hissa ban gaye ho.
Anuska: (trembling) Yeh sab... humein yahan nahi rehna chahiye tha!
(The lights return, and Pihu’s shadow fades. The room is left in silence, the girls looking at each other, breathing heavily, processing the terror they just witnessed.)
Sanskriti: (to the new girls) Ab samajh aaya? Yeh koi mazaak nahi hai. Pihu... woh sach mein yahan hai.
Manisha: (whispering) Par yeh raaz kya hai? Woh kya yaad dilane ki koshish kar rahi hai?
Alka: (quietly) Woh hum mein se kisi ek ko... yaad dilana chahti hai. Par kya?
