Yaku hums happily while getting changed for afternoon practice, a big smile on his face.
The rest of the team felt uneasy about his cheery behavior. They couldn't even begin to think of a logical reason for their starting libero acting like this. It had to mean something good happened. But what could that be? None of them had even the faintest clue of what happened between you and Yaku during lunch, so this confused them to no end.
Lev shrunk into a corner. "Are you feeling alright, Yaku-san?"
The short boy showed his pearly white teeth, pointing with both hands at the younger boy. "Never better, Lev."
This did not comfort the middle blocker. "I don't think that's Yaku-san."
Kuroo held a look of suspicion on his face. "So what happened Yaku?"
Yaku sighed dreamily. "I talked to the girl of my dreams and my future looks bright."
Kenma frowned. "This is all because of... a girl?"
"You know it! Cheer up, boys. If there's hope for your short tempered libero to find love, the rest of you will get good fortune in the future."
Yamamoto's eyes twinkled. "There's still hope! I can still have a pretty girlfriend!"
Kuroo sighs, closing his eyes and hanging his head. "Somehow, this doesn't inspire me. If anything, I'm more on edge now."
The short third year furrows his brows, the smile faltering. "What makes you say that, Kuroo?"
"I honestly think it's creepy when you're in love and acting all happy about everything. This isn't you, Yaku, and htis might be terrifying every member on the team."
Yaku frowns, a glare getting ready to form on his face. "If you all hate me when I'm happy, then you're just a bunch of jerks! Real friends would be happy for their friend's happiness!" He storms out of the club room, harshly slamming the door behind him.
Kenma sighed. "Maybe you could've worded that better. Yaku-san's in a good mood, maybe tell him that no one is used to it, but it's good that he's finally feeling great for once."
Kuroo huffs out a breath. "Now you tell me."
Yaku opens the door to the gym, walking inside as a scowl settles onto his face. "Those jerks. They want me in a bad mood? Fine, I'm in a bad mood."
You notice the dark aura radiating off of the libero. "Morisuke, is everything alright? Is there anything I can help you with?"
He blushes, slowly softening his gaze and smiling at you. "Ah, don't worry about it. I just had an unpleasant conversation with the members of the team."
You furrow your brows in concern. "Did Lev do something?"
The libero quickly shakes his head. "No, he only expressed concern for me. He did nothing wrong. He's a good kouhai, you know. He just needs to improve with volleyball."
You giggle. "Yeah, but I think he'll get much better with your help."
He lifts his hand to the back of his head. "Oh, come on. I'm not that good at teaching and helping."
You step closer, leaning towards him. "I think you are. I think you're actually really good at motivating Lev." You reach out, comfortingly putting a hand on his shoulder.
Yaku steps closer, closing the distance between you two. "You're so kind, Y/n." He puts his forehead against yours (to the best of his ability depending on height difference). "I'm so glad you're always around now."
You look into his brown eyes, seeing sincerity and something you couldn't recognize in them. "It's only been a day or two now."
He debates kissing you while there's an opportunity. "But it means the world to me."
Your breath hitches, and you find yourself at a loss for words. Something about what he said, and how he said it, hit you hard. It was sweet, but there was more to it that you couldn't identify. You open your mouth, hoping for words to come out. But there are none. You're completely speechless.
The boy in front of you notices this, taking a step back and removing your hand from his shoulder as gently as possible. "I'll go start warming up before the others get in here. Just relax somewhere." He walks away, blushing furiously at his words and actions.
You just stand in a daze, closing your mouth. You didn't really understand what just happened, but something about it made your heart beat a little faster than normal. Was it anxiety? Was it nervousness you've never felt before? Or was there another possibility that you haven't even considered?
The door to the gym opens, the rest of the team filing inside. Kuroo has a somewhat guilty look on his face, rubbing the back of his neck. He can't even look at his libero, not even knowing what he could possibly say to the boy.
Lev walks up to you, tilting his head to one side. "You ok, sis?"
You slowly nod, looking into his eyes. "Yeah, just thinking about stuff. Did you need something?"
Your brother hums. "Well, Yaku-san was in a good mood then Kuroo-san said something that made him mad. I was wondering, if you're close enough with Yaku-san, can you try cheering him up? I like it better when he's happy and calm."
You let out a nervous laugh. "I think I may have already talked to him and made everything alright again."
"That's great! You're amazing, sis! I'll hurry onto the court and start practicing now!" He waves at you, then runs over to the group of boys gathered on the court.
You head to a wall, leaning your back against it as you watch the boys start their practice. "I wonder what it is that makes Morisuke so happy at times. It's almost like things always happen to have him show me his good side. I don't mind it, but it makes me wonder." You hum to yourself, eyes darting around until they land on the boy you're thinking about. Your heart skips a beat. You sigh as you look at the ground. "That's also something I have no clue about. Why does my heart do those weird things randomly?"
