You don't dare to pick up your utensil. "Um, what kind of questions do you have?"
The mother hums, closing her eyes while the big smile remains on her face. "Well, you're the first girl any of my sons have brought home. I just a little curious to know more about you. You already told me that you're in Morisuke's class, and that you're the manager for the volleyball club. Tell me more about yourself, Y/n."
"Like what?" Nervousness filled you to the brim. Never before had you felt scared to meet a person before, but this mother was being a little intimidating.
She chuckles, slowly opening her eyes to give you a hard stare as the smile is permanently on her face. "Tell me about your family, and what you do in your free time."
"Oh uh, well..." You look at the table. "My parents travel a lot for their work, and they're rarely home. I have an older sister who's a model. And I have a brother who's also in the volleyball club. When I'm not busy with school and the club, I take some modeling jobs here and there."
"Oh? Modeling? What's that like?" She rests her elbows on the table, resting her head on her palms. She leans forward, showing interest.
Your eyes dart around. The younger boys look as if everything's alright, Morisuke is trying to eat his dinner while paying attention, and the father is starting to look somewhat nervous with what his wife is doing.
Realizing you probably wouldn't be receiving any help, you take a deep breath. "It's really fun. I plan on becoming a model full time once I graduate from high school."
She hums, tilting her head to one side. "So you like having a lot of attention on you, huh?"
At this, the father cuts in. "Dear, I think you should let her breathe and eat dinner."
Ryo frowns. "What's wrong with the questions? It's cool that sis is a model. She's really pretty!"
Hiro nods excitedly. "The prettiest!"
Morisuke looks around, swallowing the food in his mouth. "Is something going on?"
The mother stares at you intensely. "So, Y/n. What makes you think you can be alone with any of my sons?"
You sit there rigidly, tensing every muscle in your body. "I -"
"You just want some attention, since you're a model, right? Maybe you can find someone else to do that with. I bet there are plenty of willing boys to give you everything."
The libero stands abruptly, slamming his hands on the table. "Mom! It's not like that!"
Your hair covers you face as tears build and begin to spill. You don't have any words. This went in a direction you weren't ready for. You slowly stand up. "I should probably go home." You turn around, preparing to get your things a leave, not caring that the weather is horrible.
Morisuke quickly grabs your wrist to stop you. "Wait! You can't go! The weather is terrible! There's no way for you to safely get home without getting sick! We already agreed you'd stay the night." His eyes were pleading, even if you couldn't see it. "Please, Y/n."
The mother drops the smile, staring at your back and her son. "Morisuke, let her go if she wants to leave."
You close your eyes as your tears keep falling, suppressing the sobs that want to slip past your lips. "I'll be fine. Maybe I could try staying another night."
He tightens his hold on your wrist. "No. I'm not letting you go home like this." He pulls you closer to him, eyes widening as he sees the tears streaming down your face. "Y/n..." He lets go of your wrist, pulling you into a hug. He whispers into your ear. "Please don't cry. Just stay with me tonight. I'll take care of you."
His dad sighs. "Dear, why must you do this? Clearly, Y/n-chan is important to Morisuke, Ryo, and Hiro. Don't go too hard on her."
The mother huffs out a breath. "Answer one question for me. What are your intentions with Morisuke?"
You freeze in your spot. You can't just say the truth with him right there. You move away from him, looking between him and his mother. "Uh..."
"Morisuke, leave the room for a moment."
The libero whips around to face his mom. "What? Why?!"
You smile at him, drying your tears. "It's fine. Just go for a few minutes."
He reluctantly leaves. He sits on the couch in the living room, crossing his arms over his chest. He furrows his brows, wondering what you might be saying.
His mother keeps her eyes on you. "What are your intentions with Morisuke?"
You look at her. "I - I really like him. I don't know if it's love yet, but I want to fall in love with him. I'd be more than happy to be his girlfriend, and then one day his wife. I'd gladly give him everything."
"I see." She sighs, looking down. "I can't really say no, since my own son seems to care about you more than anything else. Just... please treat him well."
You sit back down at the table. "So, you don't hate me?"
She shakes her head. "I never hated you. I was excited that my son finally brought a girl home. But, as a mother, I'm worried about who my son might end up with one day. Sorry for being rude, please, make yourself at home. Eat as much as you'd like." She happily takes a bite of her food.
You blink a few times, looking at the food in front of you. "Uh, thank you. Oh, shouldn't we call Morisuke back in?"
"In a moment." She smiles at you. "Do you ever plan on telling him how you feel?"
Your face heats up. "One day. But we've only known each other for about a month, so I think it's a little too soon."
"I suppose that makes sense. But when you do it, please make sure he knows you'd give him the world."
"I will."
Her husband let out a breath of relief. "Morisuke! Come back in and eat dinner with us!"
The libero walks back into the room, confusion on his face. "What was that all about?"
Your mom winks at you. "Don't worry. We just needed a little conversation, woman to woman."
