Chapter Title- Flames Burn Brighter Unstifled
James was ignoring Cami devotedly. She wasn't surprised that Sirius had told him what had happened. She was surprised, however, she was surprised that James' silence was hurtful. Cami was so used to hearing his useless jabber that the silence was startling. There was this void in her life that she didn't know how to fill, James filled the holes in their conversations, not her.
There was another thing eating at Cami, she wasn't too sure how to go about talking to Sirius let alone how to properly apologize. Too many days had passed since the argument that Alexander and Sirius had and Cami knew her time was running out. She couldn't find a way to speak to him, it was like Alexander knew that she wanted to apologize because he had made it his duty to be there more than ever before.
"Alright students, great work today! Now I want 3 feet of parchment discussing the findings you have found today and how the planets' alignments will affect Earth. Please be sure to pack up your books and telescopes properly! If I trip over one more broken telescope I will be the first Professor in history to assign 20 feet of parchment." Professor Winthrop was perhaps one of the youngest Professors that Hogwarts had but she also was one of the strictest. She knew what she wanted from her students and often she did not receive it, an understanding of astronomy was no easy feat.
All the students grimaced at the thought of a 20-foot essay as they very carefully put their telescopes into their bags. Cami glanced up at Sirius as he was walking with his friends out of the classroom and she knew that this was it, this was the moment to get him alone.
"Sirius? I was wondering if you could walk me back to my dorms." The blonde rushed out quickly.
Sirius turned around to face Cami his face the picture of confusion. "You want me to walk you to your dorms? The Slytherin dorms? The dorms located in the common room that no one else but Slytherin are supposed to know about?"
Cami's face flushed as she quickly tried to find an excuse, "I get scared walking alone in the castle at night." her statement was more of a question, she couldn't come up with anything better.
James looked like he was going to say something but Sirius instead put his hand on his shoulder and shook his head. The boy knew what she was trying to do, no matter how awful she was at it. Sirius knew it was only a matter of time before she gathered the courage to ditch Alexander and reach out to him. He wasn't oblivious to the stare-downs that she would do although he did wonder if she even knew that Cami would stare at him when she wasn't involved in conversations.
"You get scared huh? Then what kind of gentleman would I be if I didn't escort you?" He gestured her forward before looking back at his friends and waving goodbye. He would talk to Daddy Prongs later.
The castle was quiet as any students who didn't have astronomy were most likely in their dorms already. The paintings were quietly snoozing with their heads resting against the frames that surrounded them.
