In the age of dragons, when humans and dragons lived peacefully, there were three kingdoms. The kingdom of the Land, the Sea, and the Sky. Each kingdom has three elements and each dragon has one of those elements, except royal dragons. They were blessed with all three elements. Though legend has it the crystal dragon holds the power of all three kingdoms. But humans, on the other hand, weren't blessed with any elemental magic but still lived peacefully as there was the soul bond. The soul bond is when the dragon's soul and human's soul are identical and that creates a bond. But for some reason, a little girl was born, and lived without a soul-bonded dragon.

Interrupting Valerie, a ruby red dragon burst from a cloud, dispersing it into wisps of grey. A sandy-haired rider was perched on its back, riding straight towards the castle of the Kingdom of Land. Then a lake nearby to the left trembled and erupted, shooting out a spurt of water but also a sapphire blue dragon along with it, with a snowy hair rider, and they rode easily on, in the same direction as the Sky Dragon. A sea and sky dragon, heading to the same place? This could only mean one thing. Certain doom. The Sea, Sky and Land Kingdom barely ever made contact unless it was crucial. But this was far worse, for both of those riders had one thing in common. The Royal Crest. They were the heirs and what grim news did they bring?

"Open the gates!" yelled the head guard and the golden gates opened to let in the prince of the Sky Kingdom and princess of the Sea Kingdom. They entered, still mounted on their dragon's backs and warily rode in, eyeing everything. The king and queen, along with their decorated dragons, gracefully stepped forward to greet them. Welcome to the Palace of Terra, Princes Oceana and Prince Sky, you must be weary from your ride, please dismount and Princess Glory will show you where the stables are, then to your quarters.

"So, let's get down to business. Your parents have called a meeting and we would like to know why", asked King Themis.

"I, Princess Oceana, have come to report that we have lost our most powerful relic, the Ocean Scroll."

"And I, Prince Skye, have come to announce that we have lost our most important relic, the Storm Orb."

"Well, that means all three kingdoms have had one relic stolen from them. We only found out two days ago that The Core was stolen from us. This is a grave situation. We must construct a partnership to find this thief otherwise this will be the end for all of us. Will you forge an alliance to take them down?"

Valerie stepped into the palace ground, a fruit filled basket swinging in her hands. She thought back to when she saw the dragons and royals appear, what chaos and trouble could possibly have coerced them to come attend a meeting. No one had heard of a meeting between the kingdoms for years! But a meeting of the heirs to the throne? There hasn't been one for centuries! A shiver went down her spine, things couldn't possibly get any worse, or so she thought. The next day King Themis, Queen Ivy, and Princess Glory had an announcement. They all came out, looking absolutely stunning. But what they announced next shocked all of them to the core. "Dear villagers, you must be wondering about the visit from the other Kingdoms, unfortunately we have grave news. One of the relics from each kingdom has been stolen, including one of ours. We have lost The Core." Pandemonium erupted.

Weeks passed. Spies were sent out to discover more information about who the thief could possibly be. One day, two emissaries came from each kingdom with urgent messages. They were going to send their heirs and requested that Princess Glory join them to create a trio to go on a quest to find this thief. Both of the kingdoms had been mysteriously tipped off about who it could possibly be. They lived in the Mountains of Nightmares and were creating an army to obliterate all three Kingdoms at once. With the three most powerful relics each from a kingdom, it would provide more than enough power to create and feed 10,000 troopers! Naturally Glory had to agree, but then another person popped into her mind. Her friend Valerie. She requested that she join in case they needed someone who had a different mindset, who could provide a different perspective as she was the only known person without a soul-bonded dragon. Of course her parents agreed.

The royals had prepared all the supplies plus extra provisions. "Good luck my darling Valerie, remember to be brave, just like your name." And with that Valerie mounted Autumn, Princess Glory's dragon and soared into the clouds, leaving behind the kingdom as it rapidly became a speck, heading towards an adventure of a lifetime. They three royals and Valerie were set to meet at the centre of the world, where the 3 kingdoms united into a colourful glade. There they quickly checked they had everything and were prepared. Prince Skye rudely asked why Valerie was here. Princess Glory curtly replied to mind his own business. And with that they took flight into the falling dusk. It was quiet, nobody spoke, and barely moved except Valerie. She kept fidgeting. She had never ridden a dragon before, not even Daeva, her mother's dragon. Princess Oceana sighed. All the fidgeting annoyed her, but she realised, it kept her mind off what possibly laid ahead of them. After flying for four hours straight, they had to rest. The dragons were exhausted and riders tired. Valerie, feeling useless and guilty for not helping with anything, volunteered to keep watch while the others rested. She promised to wake them in an hour or so. One and a half hours later, she woke up Princess Glory to take up the next watch. Glory grumbled but sat up and went outside, Valerie took her sleeping place, and she fell asleep before her head hit the sack.

She gasped and sat up like as fast as lightning and instinctively looked around trying to find out where in the world she was and what had awoken her. Her memory was foggy, she tried remembering what had happened. The relics stolen, a quest with the royals, taking watch, sleeping. Then nothing. She racked her brain, furiously trying to recall what happened just before, before what? And where was she? All the questions hurt her brain. Then it all came back to her like a flood, drowning her. Taking deep breaths trying to calm herself, she shakily rose, and looked around, the princesses were asleep so Prince Skye was on watch. She took a peek outside the tent, and sure enough, she saw the outline of his body, but there was something off, just then, it sagged, and toppled to its side. It wasn't him, just a mannequin. Her heart quickened, her breathing becoming harder and shorter, then there was a rustle and everything became black.

A scaly snout bumped against her, trying to wake her. She blinked and opened her eyes. She saw Autumn, Monsoon and Lani, the royal's dragons, chained to the ground, a scared look in their eyes, but also a fierce look of retribution to whoever their captives were. "Where are the royals?", Valerie groggily asked the dragons. They huffed and snuffed and turned to look into the deep darkness of a cave. Her mouth parched and stomach grumbling as loud as a dragon's roar, she felt around for anything and laid a hand on her sack. She quickly grabbed it open and snatched the fruit and waterskin and started gobbling some of it down. Then she stopped and looked at the dragons. She decided to give them a sip of the water each and dug through the bag and found two pieces of meat, she shared them between the three. Sighing, wishing there was a way to find out what happened, she tried to stand up but found herself chained at the ankles to the ground. And suddenly a shiver went down her spine. She instinctively turned around. There stood a lonely figure, standing in the middle of the cave mouth with a black cloak. They pushed back the cowl. Valerie gasped. It was her mother. Her mother, levitating the ocean scroll, storm orb and the core in one hand, and a silver chain in the other hand. The one who chained her, chained the dragons, kidnapped her best friend and the heirs of the kingdom. Then she pulled the chain hard and the biggest and most majestic dragon emerged. "Valerie, meet your soul dragon, the Crystal Dragon".
