Normally, Tommy wouldn't advocate for eating random things, but in this case, he was just so hungry he thought maybe he could make an exception. And what was the worst that could happen? It was just a tiny mushroom after all.
The tiny mushroom was a pale brown and tasted slightly nutty, but it helped his screaming stomach and gave him enough energy to find his way out of the dark oak forest that he had gotten lost in.
As he oriented himself, Tommy pulled up the chat and sent a small message to Tubbo and Ranboo telling them that he was finally on his way home.
The field he had popped out into turned into another forest, though this one was normal oak, and thus much less dense, as well as looking familiar. Tommy had definitely come through here before, which meant he was getting closer to being home, which was really all he wanted.
His stomach clenched suddenly, so violently that he gasped, falling against a nearby tree so he wouldn't collapse.
"Aw shit, I knew I shouldn't have eaten that fuckin' mushroom," he muttered, pressing his hands to his stomach, pushing his back into the tree so hard that sparks of pain shot up his spine. But he hardly noticed because of how painful his stomach felt. The pain had grown, now it felt like something was scraping at his insides, ripping its way out of him.
Tommy took in another sharp breath that melted into a sob and sunk to the ground, his hands still pressing hard to his torso, like he was trying to keep the thing that felt like it wanted to escape inside.
But the stabbing, scratching feeling worsened, and suddenly Tommy was gagging on something, his chest heaved and his mouth opened, and blood poured out, dripping down his chin.
Tommy groaned as his chest convulsed and tightened again, more blood gushing from his mouth, acid burning up his throat.
One tiny part of his stomach hurt more than the rest, he noticed once his body had finished making him vomit up his own guts, and he carefully pulled his hands away to look at his stomach.
Blood made his hands stick to his shirt, but after a moment it fell away, and Tommy realized that as it settled back against his skin, there was a little point that pushed out. Almost like there was something under his t-shirt keeping it up and tented like that.
With a shaky breath that made Tommy feel like he was going to throw up again, he pulled up his shirt just slightly, his head starting to buzz as he saw the small stick protruding from his skin.
"W- what?" He whispered, pressing his free hand to his mouth, feeling like he was about to be sick at any moment.
The stick grew, pushing its way through Tommy's skin, a sick tearing sound coming from where it forced Tommy's skin to stretch and rip open.
Tommy cried out behind his hand, his chest clenching again as he dry heaved, tears tracking down his cheeks.
The stick turned into a branch, expanding and growing out of him, until a second branch followed, and another, and another, ripping and shredding through Tommy's stomach. He was unconscious by the time the first one had finished growing, and unable to see Ranboo and Tubbo's messages, asking him where he was.
By the time they went out to look for him, his body was nearly unfindable, buried by the roots of a large tree that looked like it had always been there.
