The second Ranboo pressed the button, effectively stopping all of the Showfall employees, they sprinted back to where they had left Charlie, begging and praying in their head that he was still alive.

As they neared, they slowed to a stop to more effectively hear what was going on in front of them, trying to stop themself from breathing so hard.

Their hands clenched into fists anxiously, and they stopped when they heard a sound. Just ahead of them was the set, hulking in the darkness. Beside it was the silhouette of Security as it loomed over what Ranboo presumed was Charlie. There was the sound of a gurgling choke, like someone gasping through blood in their throat.

"Charlie?" Ranboo called, their stomach clenching.

"R- Ran-" Charlie gasped, his shadow moving slightly. "H- help-"

Ranboo rushed over, making sure they didn't look at Charlie yet, quickly shoving the wire monster off of Charlie. It landed with a sound that echoed around the warehouse.

"Are you ok?" Ranboo asked quietly, but Charlie was already trying to climb to his feet.

"Fine," he choked out, pressing his hand to his side and slumping into Ranboo. "Can we get out of here, please?" His voice was so weak, every bit of his personality drained from it, that Ranboo cringed violently.

They nodded and wrapped their arm around Charlie, helping him stay on his feet as they started to lead the way to the exit.

The sunlight hurt on their eyes, but they had never been so grateful to be blinded before.

"Aw man, I really missed the sun," they commented, hoping their voice sounded more cheerful than they felt. Really all they felt was concern for Charlie.

"Mmm..." Charlie hummed, leaning into Ranboo still, his head resting on their shoulder. His hand was still pressed firmly against his side, and in this lighting, Ranboo could finally see how bad the wound was.

Charlie's hand was fully coated in blood, his shirt and vest ripped open, blood still oozing out of the three huge gashes. Ranboo looked away quickly and pulled Charlie closer to them, wishing they did more to protect him.

"Let's get outta here," they said, leading Charlie away from the mall and into the forest that seemed to surround it.

The door that had closed behind them suddenly slammed open so violently it was ripped off of its hinges and flung into a tree, almost twenty feet away.

"Fuck," Charlie whispered, turning his head around quickly to see what was happening.

Security, of course it was security. It lurched out of the mall, its metal and wire scraping on the bit of asphalt that paved its way around the building.

"Fuck," Charlie repeated quietly. "Ranboo, you have to run."

"But you can't run!" Ranboo exclaimed, trying to quicken their pace as they held onto Charlie.

"I know, just please, please go," Charlie begged. "At least one of us should get out."

"I'm not gonna leave you if you're going to die!" Ranboo hissed angrily. The wire monster's footsteps were drawing closer.

"I'll be fine," Charlie said, contradicting his previous statement, "I'll hide or something, but you really need to run. Please, for me."

Charlie looked so defeated and ready to give up, and the last thing Ranboo wanted to do was leave him.

Charlie sighed and pushed himself away from Ranboo, giving him a weak smile. "You'd better go, or this will all be for nothing."

He stumbled back where they had come from, screaming and waving his arms. "OVER HERE! I'M OVER HERE!"

Ranboo felt their throat close up, tears rising in their eyes. "Charlie!" They yelled, their voice breaking. "You- wait!"

"Better go, Ranboo! If you get caught too, I'll be really fuckin' pissed at you!" Charlie called, his pain evident in his voice.

Ranboo grabbed at their hair and watched as Security arrived, standing over Charlie, before it grabbed him. Charlie cried out in pain but shot a look at Ranboo as the monster started turning him around in the air, holding him by his legs.

"Go," he mouthed, tears running down his forehead.

Ranboo turned and sprinted, running as fast as they could through the densely crowded wood, using their long legs to vault over things and cover ground faster than they thought was possible.

Behind him, they heard Charlie shriek, his wails and screams traveling through the air, bouncing off the trees and making it sound like Ranboo was surrounded.

They looked behind them, tears slipping under their mask. They should have looked where they were going, because the second they looked away from where they were going, they collided with something.

It wrapped around them and dug into them, sharp edges cutting and slicing at their jacket, and eventually their skin.

Ranboo screamed, and thrashed, before screaming again as that only made their situation worse. They realized they had been trapped by barbed wire, loose wire at that, and it had fully circled them, and now they were being shredded every time they moved.

Blood stained their clothes and skin, soaking into the dead leaves under them. The pain was worse than Ranboo thought, it felt like they were being put into a woodchipper, though that was a bit dramatic.

And now Charlie had died for nothing, and Ranboo was going to die and their screams were going to join Charlie's in the forest, echoing for all time.
