After the death of Jameson, Y/N watched the news and it was all they were talking about. Jameson's death. Y/N did not know what to think, he felt bad for killing Jameson but on the other hand, it felt so good to finally kill Jameson for all the lies and slanders, he has done to him.

Y/N turned off the TV as mostly everyone was out killing, hunting or doing Proxy work. Y/N got up and went up to his room, on the way, Y/N sees Jane following.

Jane: I saw the news. You seem to be warming up to killing.

Y/N: I guess so.

Y/N chuckled nervously and waved at Jane before starting to his room, but Jane spoke up.

Jane: Wait.

She stopped him, grabbing his arm.

Jane: I was wondering, if you want to join me on a friendly killing spree tonight?

Y/N: Sure.

Jane smiles softly.

Jane: Okay, we'll leave tonight at 8:00.

Jane then leaves, happy that Y/N said yes. Y/N grabbed his doorknob but hears Slenderman in his head.

Slenderman: Deadly Spider, please report to my office, immediately.

Y/N then went to Slenderman's office as he opened the door and knocked.

Slenderman: Deadly Spider, please sit.

Y/N went and sat down as the two stared at each other.

Slenderman: Deadly Spider, I sense doubt in you. It's about the heroes, isn't it? You're worried about what they will say about you. Well, I brought you here to put you at ease.

Y/N: How so?

Slenderman: You've been trying to balance your two worlds for too long. But honestly, those so-called 'heroes'? They've never treated you like one of them.

Y/N: What you mean?

Slenderman: They respect you for what you can do, but they don't see you as an equal. I saw your memories, and may I remind you of the Hellfire Gala? They didn't even invite you. You saved the world many times than you could count, but when it comes to the 'elite' events, you're suddenly not worth the time. But this goes deeper than any fancy party. You've been working hard for the people for years, Deadly Spider. And yet, how do they treat you? The Avengers always saw you as a 'street level' hero. Like you were never good enough to be on the top tier, even when you saved them. They never saw what you sacrificed.

Y/N looked down, now that he thinks about it, he rights. Slenderman continues.

Slenderman: And don't get me started with the X-Men. You've done more for mutants than half of them know, but you think they ever stop seeing you as an outsider? You're not one of them, so they brushed you off. And the Fantastic Four, for all their talk of family, you're never going to be more than a substitute to them.

Y/N was a little taken back.

Y/N: Substitute?

Slenderman: Yes, you were a substitute for Johnny when you joined the Future Foundation. You stepped in for Reed when he was too caught up in his work to spend time with his kids. And there is something else. Susan. She cares about you, Y/N. You know that. But she's never going to say anything because she's staying with Reed. She wants you close, but you're just a substitute. You've always been. She won't act on how she feels.

Y/N look down at his hands, he never thought of it that way. He'd always assumed his place with the Fantastic Four was solid. Family they'd call him. But now, doubt crept in, insidious and unrelenting. Slenderman leaned in, his voice gentle now, like a father.
