I don't know why I'm so nervous. My leg bounces on the ground and I can't stop tapping on the counter as I wait. The clock seems to tick by dreadfully slow as I just sit here. Carefully, I go over everything one more time. Lunch is packed in my bag, a blanket is ready to go, I charged her spare camera battery with the help of Mina, I checked the weather like a madman, and now I get to sit here and wait for her to wake up. Sometimes I hate being such an early riser.

The last few days have been interesting, to say the least. After Ito and I got back from the store she acted like nothing happened and it kind of pissed me off. I kept catching her looking at me and part of me wanted to say something, say anything but I was left speechless for once. Everything I could think of felt unnatural and forced so I let it be. Bit my tongue to keep from saying something I definitely didn't mean.

The days moving on from that were much of the same. There was almost never a moment we were alone, and it started eating away at me. So, I did probably the dumbest thing imaginable. I asked Mina for help. She screamed so loudly everyone came running. And after insisting she was fine; she helped me plan a date.

The stairs creek and I glance up to see Mina. My shoulders drop and I sigh. She pokes her pink head down and surveys the bottom floor before her eyes find mine.

"Aya just got up. She's heading down soon. Do you have everything ready to go?"

"Yeah. Just waiting on her."

"Prefect! Kats I'm so excited for you two."

"Chill out, Racoon eyes. This is just... casual. I'm not looking for anything serious."

Mina rolls her eyes dramatically, "she isn't either, but I can still be excited for you both."

Mina disappears back up the stairs and I tug my hand through my hair. Soon enough all my waiting comes to an end. Ito slips down the stairs and moves into the kitchen like a zombie. It's almost laughable how much of a morning person she isn't considering how she naturally wakes up with the sun. She walks right past me and to the coffee pot that I already brewed for her. She stops when she picks up the full pot and turns to look around the kitchen. Her awareness this early is nonexistent and that makes me nervous for some reason.

"Thank you," she mumbles as she smiles at me sleepily. She stands on her tippy toes as she pulls down a cup from the cupboard and I watch her carefully as she makes her coffee memorizing every step. Next time I'll have it ready in a cup just how she likes it. She takes her spot at the island and slips quietly, humming as the warm coffee fills her.

"When you're done that," I start and she looks up at me with those big, beautiful eyes, "I want you to go get dressed. We're going hiking today. Don't forget your camera the view is amazing."

Her eyes light up and she smiles at me brightly, "really? That's going to be so much fun!" She stands with her mug and rushes upstairs.

"Slow down!" I yell. The last thing we need is her tripping with a full cup of scalding coffee.

Twenty long, agonizing minutes later she comes back downstairs in a pair of flared yoga pants and a tank top. She places her empty mug in the sink and turns to me with a smile. I tug on the backpack, and she follows me out the house.

"Is anyone else coming?"

"Nope. Just me and you, today. Why is that a problem?" I ask. I didn't even think about her not wanting to be alone with me.

"Not at all. I was just wondering," she clasps her hand behind her back as she follows along next to me, "how far away is the trail?"

"Trail? I don't do that."
