(A Year Later)

May's POV

After finishing my album and going on an amazing tour with Jermaine, people were disappointed that Kendrick didn't join us. Also, people started to classify me and Jermaine as the new couple in the media, even though we weren't dating. Exactly what I didn't want to happen. Every interview was about how we should get together, not about my music. After what happened with Kendrick, I just shut down and I didn't care anymore. No one knows this yet, but I'm about to quit music all together.

I went back to school. Having just my
Bachelor's degree wasn't enough for me so I started to get my PhD. After being out of school for so long, these online classes started to kick my ass. I never been the type to just give up. Jermaine actually started helping me. I noticed after the tour we just started hanging out everyday. He actually got a key to my apartment and I have a place in New York near his.

I haven't talked to Kendrick ever since he broke up with me. Sometimes, I just laugh at how stupid I was. I should have known better. I just thought it would last more than one day.

He had his baby, and she's gorgeous. Looks just like her mom. Sometimes I imagine it was me he was having a child with. Would I still be with him? All I can do is thank God, I didn't fall too hard for him.

( In Jermaine's Studio )

Female voice: Hello? You there? (Chuckles)

May: (Snaps out her thoughts).. Oh hello. Nice meeting you.

Female: (Shakes her hand) You had an add for a assistant who could do dreads right? My name is Kayla Harris.

May: (Exhales) About time ! A lot of people don't want this job because you have to stay with me. You can do dreads right?

Kayla: (Giggles) Yes ma'am. I can be your assistant, hair stylist, and even your personal chief... I took cooking classes and I'm really good at vegan dishes.

May: WOW.. (squints eyes) You aren't the Feds trying to keep an eye on me right?

Jermaine: (Walks out booth and chuckles ) Really May?

May: That just sounds too good to be true. There got to be something off.

Kayla: Oh, there is.

May: I KNEW IT! What is it?

Kayla: I have a daughter, so I can't stay with you. I do stay close to the studio. I was hoping that would be good..

May: Actually, that's fine. I'll be able to look over that since you can cook.

Jermaine: Greedy ass...

May: Whatever.. When can you start. I'm doing a music video two days from now and I would like my dreads by then. My hair is REALLY LONG.. Can you handle all this?

Kayla: Wait! I have the job!?

May: (laughs) Yes..

Kayla: OMG THANK YOU! (Hugs her)
