The first step would be careful—Killua knew he couldn't rush. His parents, especially his mother, were vigilant, and now that he had shown his hand, they would be watching him closely. But Killua was patient, and if there was one thing he had learned, it was how to maneuver in the shadows.
The quiet rebellion that had once driven him flared back to life. Killua knew that he had to be smarter than before. His parents had used Alluka to chain him, but now his sister was urging him to break free. He wasn't alone in this anymore.
As Killua mulled over his next move, the palace felt more like a prison than ever. Guards were stationed everywhere, their eyes always on him, and the queen had made it clear that any sign of defiance would be met with swift retaliation. But Killua had faced worse before—he had survived this long, and he wasn't about to give up.
Later that night, as the palace grew still, Killua slipped out of his chambers, his movements silent as he made his way through the secret passageways he had memorized over the years. His destination was clear: he needed to reach Gon.
Gon had been healing well, but he was still under close observation. Killua hadn't seen him since his parents had forced him to surrender, but he knew that if anyone could help him plan their next steps, it was Gon. Together, they could figure out a way to bring down the queen without endangering Alluka.
When Killua reached the camp outside the capital, he moved through the shadows, avoiding detection by the guards stationed there. His heart pounded with a mixture of anxiety and hope. Gon had always been his rock, his partner in everything, and Killua needed him now more than ever.
Finally, he reached the small tent where Gon was resting. The sight of him, sitting upright and staring into the night, sent a wave of relief through Killua. Gon looked weary but determined, his eyes focused on something far off in the distance.
"Gon," Killua whispered as he approached, stepping out of the shadows.
Gon turned, his eyes widening with surprise. "Killua! You—"
"Shh," Killua warned, quickly closing the distance between them and kneeling beside Gon. "I can't stay long. They're watching everything."
Gon nodded, his face serious. "I figured. I've been hearing things... about what happened with your parents."
Killua's heart sank, the weight of the situation pressing down on him again. "It's worse than we thought. My father's in on it too. They're united against me, Gon. They used Alluka to stop me."
Gon's expression darkened, his jaw tightening. "So that's how they got you to back down."
Killua nodded, his voice low. "I couldn't risk her life, Gon. She's innocent in all of this. But now... she wants me to fight. She's willing to risk it, but I can't just charge in and get her hurt."
Gon leaned forward, his eyes filled with understanding. "I get it. But we'll find another way. We've always figured things out before. We'll do it again."
Killua looked at Gon, his heart heavy with both hope and fear. "I don't know what to do, Gon. They're too powerful. Every time I think I have the upper hand, they twist it back around. My mother's always a step ahead."
"Not always," Gon said, his voice steady. "You've gotten this far because you're smart, Killua. Your mother may think she's in control, but she underestimates you. She doesn't know what you're truly capable of."
Killua swallowed hard, feeling the weight of Gon's words. He had been pushed to the edge, forced to make impossible decisions, but Gon's unwavering belief in him was a lifeline.
