Dying was never fun. Not in stories nor in life. I had died in an average way. Nothing heroic or anything like that. But life is like throwing curveballs at the most unexpecting of people. Once I died, I woke up feeling like I was floating in water. Though it smells sweet. I opened my eyes and rather than the expected darkness, I saw that I was floating in a pool of liquid light. Floating in front of me were three beautiful gems. One was blue, another green, and lastly red. Strangely enough I heard not one but three female voices coming from them.

"Greetings young one. We welcome you to our realm." One said, it sounded soft like a sirens call heard from a distance.

"Please hear our pleas!" Another called, this one sounded firm like a tree within the forest that has stood unyielding to time.

"Indeed, we are in need of your assistance, saving our beloved world of Hyrule from absolute destruction." This voice was warm like a campfire on a wintry night. I could only nod as I tried piecing together what happened to me before all this.

"Thank you, child. We are the Goddesses of Hyrule. Our names are Din, Nayru, and Farore. We are making this request to aid the Hero of Courage in defeating the Calamity. We have seen from the timelines of our world that without aid from another both our chosen champion and Hyrule will perish." The siren voice that I think would be Nayru. But then I realized what they were asking me sounded like the story line of the Zelda game 'Breath of the wild.'

"Wait like the game, that Hyrule?" I asked which they all confirmed. I followed up with my next question, "may I ask if I could have the power to help me survive? I am not built to handle your world nor how it functions. Having something to help me have an edge would be preferred, and if yes may I chose that power?" They were quiet for a minute before they started talking to each other in a language I couldn't understand. While they were discussing my request, I thought about how I came to be here, to how I died.

It had been a day like any other, I woke up in my bed within my recently acquired apartment. All around me were unopened boxes containing my things. Despite having moved in two days ago, I had yet to start unpacking. I luckily worked from home, so worrying about having to have this available wasn't a worry. Today was my day off. I got up to head to the kitchen for some breakfast. As I entered, I got out a few snacks. I realized I needed to go shopping, much to my carnage. I got into my car and drove to the store, along the way at a stop light a speeding van crashed into my vehicle, ending my life. I was coming back from memory lane when the Goddesses made their decision.

"We agree you will need some protection, seeing as you already had one in mind, please tell us your request." The fiery voice, or Din spoke.

"It's simple really, I wanted to be able to turn into an aquatic wyvern." I said a sparkle in my eyes. Seeing my excitement, I could feel the goddesses smiling at me affectionately. They softly chuckled before Farore asked why.

I smiled answering, "well I always wanted to be become a dragon, and my fave is the wyvern. As to why aquatic, well I know that Hyrule has a lot of water around so it would be best qualified." I also thought of something as I spoke. "oh, can I also be like the Zora with the ability to breath both air and in water?" They chuckled at my enthusiasm and agreed to my request.

"Now that you have chosen your gift, we shall send you to Hyrule. May you have a successful Journey." They said their voices merging as darkness clouded my vision. But as they faded out, I saw a lone quiet purple gem faintly glowing. I reached out and tried to touch it. As my fingers grazed it all I could see as the darkness consumed me were two blazing red eyes looking directly at me with surprise, then nothing.
