Legend of Zelda: The Broken Cycle, Book One: Lost Courage

Chapter 6

After about a week and a half I was on the outskirts of the Domain. I stopped by the river letting Anubis get some rest and a drink. Resting next to him I looked over the river enjoying the display of colors the light created as it touched the water. I then noticed that there was a small clearly different shape of red within the center of the water a little up the river. Squinting I realized that it was a small Zoran swimming within the water. I looked around but didn't see any other Zorans.

"Hey little one! Are you lost? How about you come over here, its safer." I called out. The little one turned in my direction after a moment. They looked like they were thinking about what I said before I saw them go under the water. At first I thought they had left, but then I saw the bright red blur coming closer to my side of the shore. When they resurfaced, I realized it was a small male Zoran. He was about three feet tall, and the tail fin of his head was about the same size as his body. His chest was a pale ivory, and his fins were a mix of blue and yellow. After a moment I realized he looked familiar. Then it hit me, this was baby Sidon. He stood a bit away with a cautious look on his face.

With a small smile I offered a cooked apple as a peace offering. He looked at it and as if to make the scene comical his stomach chose to growl. With a small blush he shuffled closer and grabbed the apple and sat next to me as he bit into the treat. We sat there in a peaceful silence. Then I got up and dusted my legs off. Turning to face him I asked.

"Hey, do you want me to take you home? It's better with company after all. I also happen to be heading to the Zoran Domain." He nodded, taking my hand as I helped him onto Anubis. His eyes lite up as he was so far off the ground. Getting onto Anubis behind him and rode further into the Domain. Sidon leaned back into my stomach and watched as all the terrain blurred as we passed. Soon the Front gates of the Domain came into view. We were about an hour away when a pack of Lizoids Ambushed Anubis. Sidon clung to me tightly as I pulled out my bow and started firing at them. Anubis held firm in his stride as he kept both me and Sidon on his back. The Zoran that was at the gate watched as with perfect balance as a sheikah ended five Lizoids while guarding a Zoran child.

Once the bodies disappeared into black smoke, I heard a female voice call out to me. Turning to look at her I saw a beautiful soft red Zoran running up to me. I realized this was Mipha, Sidon's older sister. She gasped as she saw her baby brother clinging to my stomach as I had a hand on his back under his head fin, while the other holds my bow.

"Sidon your alright. Thank you so much for finding him. May I ask where you found him?" She asked as she stood in front of Anubis. Anubis took a liking to her immediately and nuzzled her with his snout. She giggled as he tickled her. With a smile I answered.

"I found him in the river near the outer skirts of the domain. I got him to come to me and let me take him home." She nodded as she rested her hand on sidons leg to let him now she was there as his head was still buried in my stomach. He looked up and smiled as he saw his sister leaning over to hold her. Holding him carefully I helped him into her arms. Leaving Anubis in the care of a guard that Mipha called over I walked with them down the bridge into the domain town. Once we started talking a bit Sidon got down from his sister's arms and to her surprise grabbed my hand. Turning to her I asked to get my work down and ready.

"Has the Divine Beast been acting up?" I asked her, she nodded a look of surprise on her face. She pointed up at the cliffside off to the right of the domain where Vah Ruta was resting.

"Yes, for the last two days Vah Ruta has refused to move from that spot. Strangely enough Sidon disappeared at the same time. Then you showed up with Sidon. Maybe it was a sign." She explained. I laughed and said softly.

"that would be me. For some reason, all the Divine Beasts refused to move until I arrived and put my foot onto their main body. It's strange but it helps with my mission. So, may I ask for a tour? Also, may the young prince come with me; he seems to want to stay next to me." She laughed and nodded. Sidon smiled and tightened his grip on my hand. We made our way to Vah Ruta and climbed onboard. As I said Vah Ruta started moving once my feet hit the metal. Sidon had awe-filled eyes as he felt Vah Ruta move. Mipha gave me the tour and unfortunately there was only the core chamber that could hold the MRC.

Letting Sidon take the needed pictures while holding him we made our way out of Vah Ruta. What I didn't know was Mipha was silently cheering at the sight of Sidon willingly attaching to someone that was not his family. Both Zorans were thrilled at how much I loved being in the water as I nose dived into the water. Both jumped into the water and swam at my sides.

Once back in the town Mipha offered to let me rest and wait in her personal chambers. To her surprise Sidon started arguing that I should sleep in his chambers instead. This went on for a few minutes before I cleared my throat while suppressing a chuckle.

"How about we meet with your father first, then discuss the sleeping arrangements." They both agreed and we made our way to the throne room. There sitting on the large throne was their father, King Dorephan. He smiled at the sight of his children walking in. He did look surprised to see them arguing among themselves with a sheikah standing behind them laughing. Mipha turned to him and said with a smile, pointed at Sidon.

"Look father, Sidon has been found. Also, we solved the problem with Vah Ruta, She was waiting for this Sheikah to arrive." Mipha explained. The King let out a hearty chuckle.

"Sidon my boy, thank the goddesses your safe. That's wonderful with Vah Ruta. Now may I ask what have you two arguing? You usually agree." The king spoke, despite his size his voice was quieter then I thought it'd be. With a chuckle I answered for them.

"Their fighting over where I will be sleeping. Mipha wants me in her chamber while Sidon wants me in his." I said a chuckle in my tone. He also started laughing. Both young red zorans blushed as their father held a light and airy conversation. While we talked, he got a zoran to deliver my slate to the Sheikah labs. To solved the room problem he gave me the old queens room and said the two could sleep in the same room. I had tried to reject the room out of respect but all three agreed for me to use it. Finally relenting I went to the room.

Within the old queen's room, I saw what was the woman that gave both beautiful red zorans life. On the wall was a large picture of the old queen. She was a rich dark red zoran with light yellow fins. Like her husband, she was a shark themed Zora. Her kind was a silky shark. With a chuckle I softly said "All sharks in this family. So, we have a Whale shark, Nursing Shark, Hammerhead Shark, and lastly finally found Silky Sharky." I also realized that the golden eye color came from both parents. The young prince and princess were already in the sleeping pool while I explored the room. Coming to the pool I tied a hammock that I requested into the water. At first they were confused but then when I got the waterproof pillows they smiled. I had changed in the side chamber into my nightgown and slide into the water. As I got comfortable Sidon climbed into the hammock with me snuggling into my chest. Mipha was floating next to my head staying close.

We slept that way every night. I had been there for two weeks when the Zoran returned with a few files in hand along with my slate. Purah and Robbie had made a few options for the design of the MRC. They wanted me to choose as this was my idea. One looked like a closed flower, following the petal motions as well. The second was like a teardrop shaped pod. And the third was like the actual RC. I chose the second one as it was the most convenient in both design and quick activity. The zoran was happy to deliver the chosen design, they tried to deny payment, but I insisted.
