It's been one week, one whole week since I was told that I would be attending Winchester battle college. One week since I was assigned to Delta Squad. One week since I was told that I would be the only girl at a MEN'S training college. One week since I found out that Graham was retiring. once week since ---
The ringing of my phone interrupts the little rant I was on in my head. "Hello" I answer not even bothering to check the caller ID.
"wow, that's how you answer a call from your favorite sibling" the caller says.
Sighing I get off my bike, and adjust the duffel bag on my shoulders. "Callum, we've talked about this your my only sibling" I speak. I lean my hip onto my bike as we talk.
"Ya, ya whatever. Are you there yet?" he asks, excitement lacing his voice.
I look up at the building in front of me where I will be spending the foreseeable future. sighing, I speak "Unfortunately I am. I got here right before you called. The place is massive" I finish. I toy with the hem of my shirt as I wait for a response.
"I'm just glad that you'll live closer to me now" Callum speaks.
"Just because I live closer now doesn't mean I'll get to see you more. I am a part of a squad now as you well know" I say, keeping my voice void of emotion. He grumbles something unintelligible under his breath. "I'm sorry, what was that?" I ask.
"Nothing" He says forcibly.
"Ya, huh" I respond.
"There you are graves" a voice says from behind me. Out of instinct I quickly turn around, drawing my dagger as I spin, and pinning it against the throat of the culprit.
"whoa, Graves" Carter speaks as he holds his hands up in surrender. Blinking, I pull back, and sheath my dagger. Looking up at Carter I meet his eyes, noting the dark circles under them.
"Hello, anyone there" I hear from my phone. Only then do I remember Callum.
Adjusting my phone I speak "Ya. Listen I got to go. I'll call you later". I turn away from Carter as I speak.
"Oh Okay" I try to ignore the disappointment in his voice "Good luck today. I love you" he finishes.
"Thank you. I love you too" I finish then hang up.
"Saying ' I love you ' hmm?? Must be pretty serious" Carter says. I send a glare over my shoulder, not bothering to respond. Bending over I begin to pick up my duffel bag from the ground. "Here let me carry that" He says as he steps over. I send him another glare. He holds his hands up in surrender, and chuckles as he backs away slowly. "Well, come on then" He waves a hand towards me, indicating I should follow him. Heaving the bag over my shoulder, I adjust the straps. I grab my helmet before following after him.
"Where are we going?" I ask blandly, not that I was asking out of boredom, but surprisingly from genuine curiosity. I wanted to know where we were going, whether it be the deans office or the dorms. I silently hoped it would be to deans office, I wasn't quite ready yet to face my new living situation.
Carter smirks over his shoulder as he continues walking "we are on our way to the dorm to get you settled in, and" He stops walking as he pauses "to meet the rest of the team" He finishes hesitantly as if he was trying not to spook me, I inwardly laugh at the thought.
Keeping my face blank I meet his gaze. Narrowing my eyes at him I continue to hold his gaze as he begins to squirm. Raising a brow, I wave my hand forward towards the entrance, and speak "Lead the way, Commander" I say coldly.
Carter pulls his eyes from mine, and begins walking again. With his back to me I feel as my lips lift up into a small grin from making this giant of a man squirm fro my gaze alone. I quickly steal my features again.
I begin walking after Carter, having to pick my pace up to match his long strides.
As we make out way towards the entrance I notice as his gaze flicks over to me every now, and again. As If he notices me being at a near jog to keep up with him, he slows his strides. I inwardly sigh from being able to slow, not that my body wasn't used to extensive cardio, but because I didn't want to meet my new teammates with a sweaty brow.
As we make it to the door Carter takes a handful of large steps to make it to the door before me as he pulls it open, and lets me walk in first. I give him a slight nod as a thank you, and walk into the cooled building.
Upon walking in a notice the multiple sofas scattered around the room each one holding 2 boys each, not that I could call them boys seeing as all of them look around the same build as Carter. Doing a quick head count to get a rough amount of how many are in attendance at Winchester.
Moving on from the boys, I move my gaze over to the wall on my left. Shelves lining it, books fill the majority of the cubies, but I also notice the display of swords, daggers, and bows in some of them. Moving to the right wall, I see it filled with multiple paintings, each one depicting a great battle. I quickly make a mental note of coming to look at them more closely when I get free time.
Nobody pays me any attention as I stand here annalizing. But as soon as Carter walks up beside me, and the loud click of the door every head snaps up, and looks towards us. Murmurs break out among everyone.
"Just ignore them" Carters deep voice speaks causing me to jerk away from him. He looks down at me with what can only be described as a puzzled expression.
"Let's get this over with" I speak, my voice void of emotion. I snap my gaze forward, and wait for Carter to begin walking.
