The unwanted Assassin

Chapter Three: Part One

Meeting the eyes of my best friend, I watch as a grin spreads across her face, one so big it meets her eyes. She looks at me expectantly. With a sigh I lift my arms up in front of me, and wait.

Somehow her smile manages to get even larger than it was before she jumps into my arms so fast, and hard that it causes me to stumble back multiple steps.

"UH, Alana it's been so long, you can't do that to me again" she mumbles into my hair. "I missed you so much" She says as she pulls away from me, but keeps her hands on my shoulders.

"I missed you as well Adriana" I began "Did you bring the stuff I asked for". Just as I finish a throat clears from behind us. Only then do I remember the boys. Lifting my hands up I grab Adriana's wrists, and spin around. Making sure to pin them behind me.

 I look up into the curious eyes of my new squad mates.

"And who might I ask are these fine gentlemen "Adriana says as she places her chin onto my shoulder.

"These are the boys that are in my squad" I start "This is Luca, Logan, you already know Grant, then this is Jax, and then Commander Carter" I make sure to point to each one as I say their names. "Boy's, this is my friend Adriana"I say as I tug on her wrists until she is beside me. I give her a quick look telling her that she better not do anything rash as I let her wrists go slowly.

"Best friend," Adriana says. I look at her expectantly. She rolls her eyes, and sighs before speaking again "You said that I was your 'friend' just now. I am not just your friend I am your best friend" Pausing she looked as though she was thinking "I also think that it is quite possible that I am your only friend" She finishes.

A throat clears, we both look over to where Grant is standing. "Actually" He begins as he steps forward away from the rest of the guys. "I like to consider myself a good friend of hers".

Adriana lt's out a short laugh before speaking "Ya, no" She begins "You've known her a whole, what is it now" She looks over to me "two years" She finishes, and holds up two fingers towards Grant before returning her hand to her side.

Grant snorts "like you're any better, you've only known her for 5 years" he says as he crosses his arms over his chest.

I let their conversation fade into the background, and glance over to the rest of the guys. I watch as Luca's, and logan's eyes bounce between the two as they speak, their shoulders shaking from silent laughter. Looking over to the right i'm met with the eyes of Jax, and Carter.

 I narrow my eyes towards them, letting them know that they've been caught. I watch as they shift uncomfortably under the scrutiny of my gaze. I feel as my lips turn up on the side into a small smirk.

Carter's eyes widen "Did you just" he hesitates as if he couldn't believe what he was seeing "smile?" he asks. Only after he's done do I realize everyone has gone quiet, and is looking at me with varying degrees of shock. 

I let my face go back to neutral, effectively erasing any evidence of the smirk. "No, Carter" I start "I didn't not smile as you liked to call it. I smirked" I corrected him. He opens his mouth to speak, but I lift my hand up towards him letting him know I wasn't done speaking." And next time I cause the guys to squirm I'll make sure to keep my face blank, to save myself from whatever this is" I gesture towards everyone.

Not wanting to hear anyone's reply I quickly turned my body to face Adriana, and asked the one thing I wanted to ask since she first got here "Did you bring everything I asked for?" I rushed out.

"Uh, yes I did" she says slowly as if still stunned by the previous events. "It's in my car" She finishes as she indicates towards her keys strapped to her belt.

 I clasp my hands in front of me, and begin towards the door "Great, let's go" I say faking enthusiasm, and effectively ignoring the rest of the guys.

30 minutes later

"This is the last one" I start as I bend down, and pick up the last of the cardboard boxes "you don't need to come back in" I say more as a demand than a question.

"Okay! I was gonna say I had to head out anyways" Adriana steps forward, and gives me an over the shoulder hug "mamma wants me to be back in time for dinner, says she has 'someone special' she wants me to meet. I'll see you later ya?" she asks.

"Yes, I'll see you later, and thanks again" I say as I start walking backwards towards the dorms. She gives me a smile, and a wave before hopping into the front seat of her car, and pulling out of the parking lot.

My shoulders relax a little with the feeling of finally being alone for a bit before I have to go deal with my squad mates. Heaving a sigh I spin on my heels, and head towards the dorms.

 "Yes, I'll see you later, and thanks again" I say as I start walking backwards towards the dorms. She gives me a smile, and a wave before hopping into the front seat of her car, and pulling out of the parking lot.

My shoulders relax a little with the feeling of finally being alone for a bit before I have to go deal with my squad mates. Heaving a sigh I spin on my heels, and head towards the dorms.
