"That girl was definitely hitting on you."

"Whatever." Luke rolled his eyes at his partner.

The two were on there way back from questioning a suspect. Amanda had teased him the whole ride back to the station.

"She only bit her lip about half a dozen times. Looks like you've still got it, old man."

"Old man?" He feigned being offended. "You're only four years behind me. What does that make you?"

"The hottest ticket in town, that's what."

The both cracked up at the other's silly comments, still laughing as they pulled up to the precinct. Luke went ahead of her, scaling the stairway two steps at a time. When he didn't hear Amanda behind him, he turned around. She was still standing on the sidewalk, phone in hand.

"You coming?"

She looked up, her mind obviously preoccupied.

"Yeah. I've got to make a call. You go on ahead."

Not thinking much of it, he went ahead inside and to his desk.

A period of time passed, but Amanda still hadn't come inside. She had seemed a little weird about her phone call, secretive almost.

He convinced himself there was no harm in checking on her and descended the steps in search of his partner. Finding it odd that she was nowhere to be found, he decided to call her cell. One ring, two rings, three rings. No answer. But, out of his other ear, he could hear the faint sound of a phone ringing. With his pulse accelerating, he slipped the phone back in his pocket and removed his gun from it's holster.

Heading in the direction of the sound, he slowly made his way around to the alleyway. As he rounded the corner, he saw two men and one of them had Rollins pinned against the wall.

"Hands up and step back!" He yelled, immediately catching the attention of the men.

His throat began to close as he saw a gun strapped to the one man's belt.

"Oh, look" he said, nearly nose-to-nose with Amanda. "Your boyfriend came to save you."

Luke cocked his handgun.

"I'm not going to tell you again."

Lingering for a moment, the man stared down his prey before tossing his hands up in the air and walking backwards.

"We don't want no trouble, officer. Just old friends catching up."

Keeping his gun aimed at both men, Luke herded them back to their vehicle.

"If I see either one of you with her again, we're gonna have a problem. And, next time, there won't be a warning."

The men first smirked at Luke before shooting Amanda a knowing glance. They then piled into their car and drove away.

"What are you doing? I had it handled!" Her voice was a bit shaky but heated.

"Yeah, I figured that when I saw you pinned against the wall." He shot back sarcastically.

As she attempted to burst past him, he grabbed her by the arm.

"Did you give them the money I gave you?"

She violently shook away from his grip.

"Of course I did. That's not what they wanted."

Luke could feel his jaw begin to tense. He was afraid to ask what they had come in search of.

"What do they want you to do?"

She turned her head away, emotion flooding her face.

"There's nothing for you to worry about."

"The hell there isn't," he fumed, fire behind his eyes. "What would've happened if I hadn't come out here?"

"Oh I don't know, Luke. We'll never know because you just have this thing about saving women. Well, guess what? I don't need to be saved!"

He watched as she turned on her heel and flew up the stairs, leaving him in the shadows.
