A/N: Lorelei and Sean's relationship takes a small step in a new direction.
It's a lame chapter title, but coming up with titles is not my strong suit. However there is some spiciness later on.
The past few days had been hard, particularly after he had ingested that potion. It was perhaps the worst experience of his life. The pain had lasted for longer than he had expected. However, it had been worth it. Burkhardt's girlfriend was awake. Sean didn't have to worry about the Grimm leaving Portland, for now at least. That didn't mean that Sean was worry-free. He still found himself wondering who the third Grimm Kimura had referred to was. Plus, Catherine Schade had turned up dead. And he was still bothered by what Eric had said about Lorelei. There was no way he was letting his brother get his hands on his soulmate.
Sean's patience was starting to run out. He didn't know how much longer he could wait to claim his soulmate. Her eisbiber was out of the picture now. Sean was still determined to give Lorelei some time to get over it before swooping in. He didn't want to wait for long however, no doubt there were others waiting in the wings. However, Lorelei seemed to be in better spirits when he called to invite her over for dinner. Perhaps she would be over it sooner than expected. He hurried home after work to get dinner ready, making a slight detour to pick up dessert.
He had a quick shower and changed. A simple pair of black pants and white collared shirt. He made sure everything was tidied up. Then he started on dinner and setting the table. It didn't take long. Sean was surprised to find he was quite anxious. It felt like a date, not their usual meet ups. And Sean Renard did not get anxious when meeting woman, but this wasn't a regular woman, this was his soulmate the one person the universe had decided was perfect for him.
Dinner was almost ready, he just needed to drain the pasta and plate it up. The salad was ready, as was the garlic bread. When he heard a knock on the door, he felt his anxiety levels rise again. Taking a deep breath, he made his way to the door, checking the peephole before opening the door. God, she was beautiful. She was wearing a short white dress with some kind of pink embroidery at the top, heels, and her hair was out framing her beautiful face. It wasn't lost on him that white symbolised purity and innocence while pink symbolised unconditional love and romance. It seemed very fitting.
"Hi." She said brightly.
"Lorelei, please, come in." He said, standing aside to let her in before escorting her towards the kitchen. "It's looking a lot better than last time I was here." Lorelei commented.
Sean glanced around before smiling. "I suppose it does. I apologise for Kimura ruining our plans."
Sean gestured for her to take a seat in one of the stools near the island, while he moved towards the stove, while Lorelei assured him it wasn't his fault.
He gave the sauce a final stir before draining the pasta and turning back to Lorelei. "Can I get you a drink?"
He provided her with a glass of red wine and remembering her previous comments when provided with alcohol, he remarked. "Now, no smartass comment."
Lorelei took the glass with one hand, while holding the other up in mock defence. "I would never."
He gave her a look and she smiled innocently up at him as she took a sip. "How's Juliette? I heard she woke up." Sean queried, as he started plating up the food.
"Yeah, she's doing alright. She's actually going home tonight. It's just that..." Lorelei trailed off.
Sean glanced up at her. "Just what?" he asked feeling concerned. Was there some kind of side effect Catherine hadn't mentioned?
