Crush

When I saw you
In the college campus, wearing blue,
You were all tired and sweaty,
But that look somehow made me happy.

You became my instant crush,
In a moment, I grew nervous and started to blush.
I stared at you for a while,
As my mind drifted to weird scenes, though I stayed silent all the while.

You used to walk in the evenings, and I’d lose myself in fantasy,
Watching you from my balcony became my nightly ecstasy.
Nothing mattered more than catching a glimpse of you,
I lived for those eyes, so bright and true.

At that time, you were my only obsession,
I gathered courage, planning my confession.
I walked up to you, trembling with fear,
My heart was racing, adrenaline in full gear.

Unfortunately, or perhaps fortunately, I couldn’t say a word.
I thought I’d write it down instead, hoping to be heard.
But as I sat with paper and pen,
I realized my love was only based on what I had seen then.

I started finding out more about you each day,
It became my daily chore, in every possible way.
Until one day, I saw you laughing with a girl,
And in the rain, my hopes began to unfurl.

I was sad, but within minutes,
I took a deep breath and absorbed my limits.
Letting my thoughts melt away,
Like the rain drops falling that day.

I returned to my room, drenched from head to toe,
While everyone was getting ready for the fest below.
It didn’t take long for me to get comfortable again,
So I grabbed my things and let my thoughts flow through the pen.

With a cup of tea in hand, standing by my balcony,
I saw that man I had once fantasized so endlessly.
He stood there, watching me with mystery,
And I met his gaze, deeply and curiously.

That stare with my wet hair,
He smiled, then walked away from there.
I didn’t know what it meant,
But the moment felt like a priceless event.

Hours passed, and so did the day,
Later, when I stepped out, I saw someone looking my way.
I met his eyes, and he met mine,
We both smiled without reason, but it felt divine.

The time from a smile to a simple "hi"
Was long, as we were both a little shy.
I had imagined the conversation a thousand times,
But when the moment came, I was lost for rhymes.

Breaking the silence, I asked for coffee,
He said, "Sure, how about we take it in the balcony?"
I said, "Fine, Mr. Where? Yours or mine?"
He replied, "You first saw me from yours, so yours will be fine."

Now, we’re both in my balcony,
Sipping coffee, together quietly.
Standing side by side,
Each hiding the thoughts we keep inside.
