Minji leaned into her propped hand, fork absentmindedly twirling around strands of creamy pasta onto the twines. She blinked at one point and almost wanted to keep her eyes closed, nerves ripping one by one as she continued to listen to her girlfriend and the couple across from them laughing and chatting on and on about something that she had completely lost interest in long ago.

Hanni seemed to have finally noticed that she checked out when the double date started. She gently placed hand on her lap, rubbing her softly as if to deliver an apology for dragging on the night for so long.

Truth be told, she was getting tired, too, but this preppy and chatty couple kept going on and on about each other, like when Kim Chaewon landed a job at a hospital as a nursing assistant to get some training done before becoming a full-fledged nurse. Or when Kim Minju got onto the dean's List in her final semester of undergrad and was going to graduate as summa cum laude.

Hanni still couldn't believe that Chaewon ended up with Minju after their camping trip all those months ago. Now everyone is suffering experiencing the unprovoked sappy aftermath.

"Minji-ah, what about you? Did you finally get some internship done to be a PA?" Chaewon asked, snapping said girl out of her trance.

Minji was completely caught off guard, but she cleared her throat and straightened her posture, trying to make it seem like she wasn't falling asleep and about to face plant into her pasta.

"Uh, yeah, I just actually got a job to be a PA at the medical center on campus," she replied.

Chaewon grinned and nodded, looking genuinely happy that Minji was getting somewhere as well. "That's nice! Wow, look at us—all doing big things with our lives already."

Hanni forced out a smile. "Yeah, well, gotta make a living, right?"

Chaewon and Minju seemed to have broken out into a full-on laughter with their eyes squeezed shut and Chaewon's mouth wide open while Minju's hand was covering her own, startling the other couple across from them. Minji gulped and shared an odd look with Hanni—what the actual fuck did they take before coming here and where could Minji get some?

"Oh, you're so right, Hanni!" Minju wheezed out and wiped away a stray tear. "Excuse me, I actually need to get to the ladies' room for a bit."

When she left the table with a pat on Chaewon's shoulder, and a faint laughter still erupting from her throat, Chaewon was patting her flannel jacket.

"Oh, damn, I forgot my wallet in the car," she mumbled. "I'm so sorry, ladies, but can you excuse me for just a minute as well? I just need to run to my car real quick for my wallet."

Hanni and Minji nodded simultaneously and watched the other half dash out the high-class restaurant. The latter sighed in relief and wanted to crawl into a ball right then and there, but she was wearing nice clothes at the moment and didn't really want to wrinkle them right now.

"Oh my fucking god, how did they both become absolute batshit crazy once they started dating?!" Minji said it first, throwing a harsh glare at Hanni. "This is all your fault for agreeing to go on a double date with them!"

Hanni choked out a gasp and looked baffled. "My fault!? Excuse me, Minji Kim, we haven't seen them in forever. And you didn't have to agree either!"

"You forced me into it!"

"No, I didn't! I asked you about it and you were like, 'Oh, yeah. Totally, babe, we're just going to grab dinner with Chaewon-Unnie and pretty model Minju?'"

Minji was alarmed. "When in the heck did I say that!"

"You were benching when I asked you!"

"I! Was! Bench! Ing!?" Minji almost screamed. "You know that I barely listen to anyone when I work out!"
