"That was...socially draining."

A sigh.

"Yeah, it was."

Minji and Hanni turned to look at each other.

"Let's not do that ever again," Minji joked albeit seriously.

It elicited a chuckle from Hanni. They were in Hanni's apartment, cuddling on the comfortable, leather couch, admiring the crackling of the logs in the fireplace in front of them. A particular spark shocked Hanni a little bit; embers flew up into the air before it dissipated.

Hanni heaved a sigh, snuggling even more against the side of Minji's body. Her head was resting against the crook of her neck, arm wrapped across Minji with her hand resting above her chest. Minji had an arm protectively around Hanni's waist, head resting against Hanni's.

The night sky hung over them, cold air biting at their exposed skin whenever they stepped foot outside. They had just returned to Hanni's apartment to retire for the night, having exhausted themselves socially from meeting both Hanni's and Minji's family separately, and also feeling very full from having two meals so close in time. It was Hanni's family in the morning, Minji going from person to person to catch up on whatever the lovely couple was doing and also to know what Hanni's family members were doing as well. And then right after that was meeting Minji's family in the afternoon, also going from person to person to play catch up, but with Hanni doing the talking since they were asking about her. Now, here they were, resting on Hanni's couch, watching the flames licking up the logs in the fireplace, listening to soft, gentle Christmas music.

Throughout their extensive years of dating, they used to alternate every year on whose apartment they would spend the night of their Christmas at. However, since Hanni proved to love holiday decorating but hate the cold whereas Minji loved the cold but hated holiday decorating, they decided to have had Christmas at Hanni's for the past few years. Her apartment was decked out in garlands, wreaths, and Christmas lights. At one corner of the living room near the fireplace was a medium-sized Christmas tree wrapped with warm, white lights and rose gold ornaments, topped off with a star that had a picture of Minji and Hanni together. In the photo, a closed-eyed Hanni was kissing a bashful Minji on the cheek.

Hanni gradually leaned her head up to press her soft lips against Minji's jaw line. "Are you tired? Do you want to go to sleep?"

Minji lightly shook her head. "Nah, I'm kind of comfortable like this."

"We might end up falling asleep like this."

"That's okay."

"Without brushing our teeth."

"One night won't hurt."

"Without changing our clothes."

"I've fallen asleep in more uncomfortable clothes plenty of times, Pham. You know that."

Hanni huffed. "I'm just trying to get you into bed."

"Bed or bed?" Minji asked, wiggling her eyebrows.

Hanni rolled her eyes and shoved Minji away from her. She stood up from the couch and immediately felt a rush of cold covering the side of her body that was pressed up against Minji.

"I'm going to make some hot chocolate. Do you want some?" she asked, striding over to the kitchen.

"Yes!" Minji called out. She flopped around on the couch and rested her elbows on the armrest, admiring her beautiful girlfriend, who just flicked on the light switch. "With mini marshmallows, please."

"Okay."

As Hanni got to work in the kitchen with getting out hot chocolate packets and mugs from cupboards, Minji decided to climb off the couch to rummage through her belongings. She smiled to herself, thinking of the "sexy prank" she was going to pull off later into the night.

"I'm gonna head to the restroom for a bit," she announced, taking a plastic bag of items with her.
