Considering the relationship between Minji and Hanni now, one would have found it extremely hard to believe that this couple gave no shits about each other back in high school.

They only knew of each other then. No intimate conversations. No physical contact.

All four years of high school.

Only glances, hearing things about each other from word of mouth, seeing each other's photoshopped faces plastered on the display for Student of the Month.

Their friend groups didn't mesh well together—they just knew they existed and didn't want to try to open up their cliques more.

Up until they were both admitted to the same college.

It was something about that transition into college. Minji and Hanni got to know who really stuck around from their friend group at that time. It most likely happened to everyone else as well, but their friendships diminished down into almost nothing.

It was like you were only friends with someone because you saw them five days out of a week for one to four years until life continued to happen.

There was a mutual friend among the two, who was Haerin. She was the high school sweetheart back then, always dependable and had a kind heart. She never truly belonged to a single group—everyone absolutely loved her and was willing to take her in, but she decided to float about the campus from group to group. And that included both of Minji's and Hanni's.

And it was because of Haerin did Minji and Hanni receive the opportunity to deepen their connection and not just throw glances across campus and whatnot.

Haerin often had little outings at her place. It included a few friends from high school (like Minji and Hanni), but most of them were friends she made in college because of a club she was in. Minji was grateful it wasn't a full-blown house party like how rowdy Jay would throw back then. It was chill—some light alcohol, but enough to get them drunk if consumed a lot, and maybe some rolling here and there. But Minji wasn't into that.

Nothing wild happened usually.

It was just a time where Minji could hang out with a good friend like Haerin and get along with other friends like Hanni. And it was thanks to Haerin that Hanni finally became more than just a familiar face.

Minji didn't understand why she didn't try to connect more with Hanni back then. She guessed it was because she delved in too deep with the stereotypical mindset of a teenager. Her group was filled with jocks and artists—those who found more interest in other activities but their studies. As for Hanni, well, she was evidently the opposite. Academics was her top priority.

But the main reason why Minji was so distraught was because she clicked with Hanni just like that. Even if it was through shots of soju and a few measly kisses from spin the bottle, Hanni was definitely someone who was more than eye-catching. Minji could finally put a personality to her, and it was befitting.

A few kickbacks at Haerin's later, Minji and Hanni had each other's numbers and were following each other on social media accounts. They messaged often on Facebook and they were also added into a group chat with a few others they were able to get along well—thus the birth of a group chat with the five of them: Hanni, Minji, Haerin, Danielle, and Hyein.

It was about their second year of college when one of them finally mustered up the courage to take their relationship a step further. They both weren't clueless—the sexual and physical attraction they had for each other was scarily strong and they knew of it. But they were both too scared to do something about it.

Until Danielle got fed up with their teasing remarks and longing glances.

She wanted them to be official already, to finally establish that relationship out into the world—heck, put it on Facebook or Instagram biographies already for crying out loud!
