The corridor was narrow and dark, the faint glow of machinery casting eerie shadows on the walls as Y/n and Jungkook pressed deeper into the facility. The humming of the machines created an unsettling atmosphere, a reminder of the technology that surrounded them. Y/n felt a mix of excitement and fear, the thrill of the unknown pulling her forward while anxiety gnawed at her mind.
“Keep your eyes open,” Jungkook whispered, glancing back at her. “We don’t know what lies ahead.”
Y/n nodded, her heart pounding in rhythm with their footsteps. “Right. We need to stay focused.”
They moved quietly, careful to avoid making any noise that could alert the guards. Y/n couldn’t shake the feeling of being watched, the tension in the air thickening with every step they took. She glanced at Jungkook, who remained calm and collected, his focus unwavering.
“Do you think we’ll find Seokjin here?” she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
“I hope so,” Jungkook replied, his expression serious. “But we need to be prepared for anything. This place could be crawling with enemies.”
As they reached a junction, the corridor split into two paths: one leading to the left, the other to the right. Y/n felt a surge of uncertainty. “Which way do we go?”
Jungkook studied the map on his wrist communicator. “According to this, the Core should be straight ahead, but there’s a large security checkpoint in that direction,” he said, pointing down the right path. “We might have a better chance sneaking through the left corridor.”
“Let’s take the left path, then,” Y/n agreed, her instincts kicking in. She felt a sense of camaraderie with Jungkook that grew stronger with each challenge they faced together.
They ventured down the left corridor, the sound of their footsteps muted against the cold concrete floor. The walls were lined with metallic panels, and Y/n couldn’t help but wonder about the secrets hidden behind them. Her mind raced with questions about Seokjin, the Chronos Core, and the fate of their world.
Suddenly, a series of alarms blared, and red lights began to flash overhead, bathing the corridor in a blood-red hue. Y/n’s heart dropped as panic surged through her. “What’s happening?”
“Damn it,” Jungkook cursed, his expression hardening. “We must have triggered a security alert. We need to move, now!”
They sprinted down the corridor, the sound of heavy boots echoing behind them. Y/n felt her breath quicken as they raced toward a door at the end of the hall. “Over there!” she shouted, pointing to the exit.
They reached the door just as it slid shut, locking them out. Jungkook slammed his palm against the panel, his eyes darting around. “We need a way to override the lock!”
Y/n’s mind raced, recalling the emergency override she had seen in the previous control room. “There must be a console nearby. We can’t let them catch us!”
“Look for anything that could help!” Jungkook urged, scanning the area for a way to escape.
Y/n spotted a terminal at the side of the corridor, its screen flickering ominously. “Over here!” she called, rushing to the console. She quickly accessed the interface, her fingers flying over the keys as she attempted to bypass the lock.
“Come on, come on,” she muttered under her breath, feeling the urgency pulse through her. The sounds of footsteps grew louder, the guards closing in.
“Y/n, hurry!” Jungkook shouted, his voice tinged with desperation.
The console beeped, the screen flashing warnings as she struggled against the system’s defenses. “I’m trying! It’s not responding!” Panic clawed at her throat as she glanced over her shoulder, the shadows growing darker as the guards approached.
