Terence

Terence's Pov:

It's been a full year since the arrival of
(Y/N). Everyone's still buzzing with excitement about her since she keeps surprising everyone. Even Queen Clairion seemed to lose her footing when she saw (Y/N) grow a whole harvest last fall haha. I guess you can say, she was falling...

You can see why I've thinking about the new garden fairy. Not just that, but during the talent ceremony she glanced at the dust keepers, and I swear I felt my heart flutter. We only saw each other for an instant, but in that moment I felt frozen in place. I've never felt this way before and I don't know what to do.

"Hey Terence, you mind speeding it up a bit? I'm trying to carry these pixie dust boxes over to the Pixie dust tree" Adler, my longtime friend and colleague yells through the stack of boxes he seemed to be carrying.

"Don't tell me you're still thinkin' bout her, just talk to the poor girl. She'll never know ya if you ain't talk to her"

"I'm sorry Adler...need a hand?" I laugh as I grab some of his boxes from him. He seems relieved, and as we make our way to the Pixie dust tree, when something, or rather someone, catches my eye.

It's (Y/N), and she seems to be sitting by a small trickle of pixie dust. She seems distracted, as if something's troubling her.

I quickly help Adler drop off the boxes and make my way over to (Y/N).

"HEY! Terence! least ya can do is help me put them away!..." He pouts, but I can't hear the last bit since I was a distance away

I land in the middle of the tree trunk where a pool of pixie dust has slowly been trickling down. There is a golden glow on (Y/N)'s face, only highlighting her sad expression.

"You okay (Y/N)?" I ask as I land not to far from her.

"Oh um... yeah... yeah I-I'm fine, just came to clear my mind"

"Oh, well...do you... want to talk to me about it?"
Why is this making me worry so much. I hardly even know her.

"I think I just want to look at the pixie dust settle for now"

"Hmmm... mind if I watch with you?" I walk towards her but choose to give her some distance so she don't feel overwhelmed into sharing.

"Thanks Terence" she gave me a small smile, and it caught me off guard. I hesitate before asking.

"Y-you know my name?"

"Of course I do, your Tinks friend"

Just Tinks friend? I'll admit, I've been visiting Tink frequently because I've been wanting to catch a glimpse of (Y/N). I think the rest of their friend group has started to catch on. Rosetta and Fawn are a little ticked off that I haven't tried talking to (Y/N) yet.

Especially with bobble always flirting and making moves on her too. I never would have thought he would be bold like that. He always struck me as a timid guy. But I guess when he sees something, he works hard to make it happen.

*Flashback*

"Oh Sugar, at this point she'll be whisked away by bobble if you don't work up the courage" Rosetta sighs at me

"And by the looks of it, (Y/N) might be thinking about it too. You know last time he even gave her a shiny lost thing he found. Tink said it's the prettiest lost thing she's ever seen!" Fawn exclaimed

*End of flashback*

But she's always surrounded by the other garden fairies, I didn't think I would be able to talk to her alone. And besides, who would want to talk to the dust keeper?

"I'm sorry, I guess I just never thought you'd notice me. I'm just the Dust keeper guy. I'm not exactly the most important fairy in Pixie Hollow"

"What are you talking about? Your probably one of the most important one there is! How WOULDN'T I notice you" she laughs

Her smile is warm and genuine. I've never noticed until now but, she has dimples when she talks or smiles.

"Do I have something on my face?" She catches me staring a little too long. Damn it, Terence, now she's going to think you're weird!

"No! Nothing, I just noticed you have dimples when you smile is all. I've never seen you this close before, so I never knew" I want to say more, but I can tell something is really worrying her.

"You know, if something happened at the Garden, I can talk to Tink and the others to see how we can help" I start to filter some of the pixie dust that's stuck on the bottom preventing the rest from flowing downward with a rope and pulley.

"No! Please don't. I just... it's nothing..."

There was a moment of silence before she continued.

"Everyone thinks I'm trying to make them feel inferior or something but..."

"But what?"

"I just don't want to let anyone down. I know everyone says I have exceptional talent and all, but I can't even grow a tulip! Isn't that funny? I can grow the most complex plants and flowers but not a tulip."

"Oh (Y/N)....I think you're under an incredible amount of pressure. That can't be good for anyone's mental health." (Y/N) I'm sorry we didn't notice it sooner.

I try and drop the filter and pulley to comfort her, when my foot got stuck on one of the ropes near the pulley. I slip and suddenly I'm hanging upside down in front of (Y/N). Our dumbstruck, open mouth expressions staring at each other caused us to burst out laughing.

We can't help but laugh at my predicament. I'm just glad I was able to make her smile again. Her whole demeanor seemed to have changed, her laughter echoing through the breeze.

We chatted for a while, I offered her some advice.
Which seemed to cheer her up.

She told me how Tink had recommended her to talk to me about this, and how she should have done so sooner had she known how nice I was.

She was afraid I wouldn't want to help her, which is ridiculous because I would have jumped at the idea of talking to her.

After some time, we found out we had many things in common. We both love to have a clean workspace, we love the same fruits and we share the same interests.

We left the pixie tree and we started to make our way to (Y/N)'s home. I couldn't help but find her endearing. She has a certain aura around her, that makes me want to talk to her some more.

We halt in front of her door and we both hesitate to speak anything.

I dont know about her but I wanted to talk some more but I know that we both are very busy fairies and we spent all afternoon talking as it is.

WHOA! All afternoon!? Where did the time go!

"Well (Y/N)...I think I should get going now. I really enjoyed our talk. Don't forget to visit me sometime alright?"

I break the silence and before she can answer me, she spots Rosetta behind me. I take this as my sign to leave. As I wave goodbye to her, I see Rosetta nudging (Y/N) as she's waving at me.

Strange, I've never seen Rosetta nudge someone like that before. What's even more curious is this feeling im getting, it's as if something bad is going to happen.

When I get back to work, I notice that Adler had finished up my portion of the job.

That guy, I tell you. Everyone says he's a grump, but he's actually a sweet guy. He even got me my favorite baked good from that one bakery I love so much...
