Days had passed since Yvette and Ash were defeated, and peace had finally returned to Pixie Hollow. The scars of battle were slowly healing, and life was beginning to feel normal again. Through it all, Terence had never left my side. He held me through my nightmares, whispered soft reassurances when doubt crept in, and filled my days with laughter, making sure I never felt alone.
Tonight, the festival of lights filled the Hollow with warmth and joy. Lanterns floated high above, glowing like golden stars, casting a soft luminescence over everything below. Music played in the background, fairies twirled and danced in celebration, and the scent of blooming flowers mixed with the rich aroma of sweet nectar. It was breathtaking.
But nothing held my attention more than Terence.
He stood beside me at the edge of a secluded clearing, his hand loosely entwined with mine, his fingers tracing gentle circles against my palm. His touch sent a shiver up my spine, and when I glanced at him, I found his eyes already on me—intense, filled with something deeper than words could express.
"You're beautiful tonight," he murmured, voice low, sending warmth through my chest.
I felt my cheeks heat. "You always say that."
"Because it's always true."
The way he looked at me made my heart race. The golden glow of the lanterns reflected in his blue eyes, making them look impossibly soft yet brimming with longing. He stepped closer, so close that I could feel the warmth radiating from him. His other hand came up, brushing a strand of hair behind my ear, his fingertips barely grazing my skin.
A soft sigh escaped me at the contact, and he noticed. His lips twitched into a small smile, but there was something else there, something deeper.
"Come with me," he whispered, gently tugging me toward a more hidden part of the clearing.
I followed, my pulse thrumming in anticipation.
The air felt different here, quieter, as if the world had shrunk to just the two of us. Glowing fireflies danced between the trees, and the soft hum of the festival was distant now, leaving only the sound of our breaths, steady but expectant.
Terence turned to face me fully, his expression unreadable. But I could feel it—the tension between us, thick, electric. He reached up, his fingers tracing the line of my jaw before gently tilting my chin up.
"I love you," he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper.
I felt my breath catch.
"I've loved you for so long," he continued, his fingers now trailing down my arms, leaving goosebumps in their wake. "And after everything... I don't ever want to spend another day without you."
I swallowed hard, my heart pounding so loudly I was sure he could hear it.
"I love you too, Terence," I whispered, my voice shaking slightly.
Something flickered in his eyes—something raw, something hungry. And then, he kissed me.
It was slow at first, his lips moving against mine with deliberate tenderness, as if savoring every second. But then, something in him shifted. The kiss deepened, became more desperate, more consuming. His hands slid down to my waist, pulling me closer, pressing me against him.
I gasped into his mouth at the sensation, and he took the opportunity to tilt my head back, kissing me deeper, drinking me in as if he'd been starved for this moment. My fingers tangled in his hair, tugging slightly, and I felt his breath hitch against my lips.
"(Y/N)," he breathed, his voice thick with emotion.
I barely had time to respond before he kissed me again, this time slower, teasing, his lips barely brushing mine before pulling away just enough to leave me breathless.
"Do you have any idea what you do to me?" he whispered against my skin, his lips ghosting along my jaw, then lower, down the sensitive spot on my neck.
A small gasp escaped me as he pressed a lingering kiss there, his grip on my waist tightening. My knees felt weak, and he noticed, chuckling softly as he pulled me closer, holding me steady.
"You make my heart race," he admitted, his forehead resting against mine. "You always have."
I smiled, breathless, my fingers tracing small patterns on his chest. "And you make me feel safe," I whispered, my voice barely audible.
He pulled back slightly, meeting my gaze, his expression suddenly serious. "I'll always protect you," he said, his thumb brushing against my lower lip. "No matter what."
There was something about the way he said it, the absolute certainty in his voice, that made my heart swell.
I reached up, cupping his face, and pulled him into another kiss—this time slow, deep, filled with all the love and longing I had for him.
We stayed like that, wrapped in each other, lost in the moment as the lanterns above us floated higher, carrying wishes and dreams into the sky.
And I knew, without a doubt, that this was just the beginning of our forever.
