Revealing the Truth

I took a deep breath, trying to steady my nerves as I stepped closer. Yvette stood with her arms crossed, her expression smug yet expectant, like she had been waiting for this moment.

Beside her, cloaked in shadows, was a figure I didn't recognize at first—until they shifted slightly, allowing the moonlight to illuminate their face.

I gasped.

It was Nyx—one of the scout fairies.

My blood ran cold.

"Nyx?" I breathed. "What... what are you doing here?"

The stern warrior fairy's amber eyes locked onto mine. "I should be asking you the same thing, (Y/N)."

Confusion clouded my thoughts. "What do you mean?"

Yvette scoffed, stepping forward. "Oh, don't play innocent. I've had enough of that act." She gestured toward Nyx. "I told you she was up to something. That's why I brought you here."

Nyx turned toward me, her expression unreadable. "Is it true?"

"Is what true?" I asked, my patience wearing thin.

Yvette smirked. "That you've been secretly controlling the Sprinting Thistles."

I froze.

Terence, who had been lingering in the shadows, stepped beside me, his voice sharp. "That's ridiculous."

But Nyx's expression remained serious. "We tracked the thistles back to a clearing near (Y/N)'s garden," she said. "And the way they moved—like they were being led—it was unnatural."

I shook my head in disbelief. "You think I led them?"

Yvette feigned innocence. "Oh, I don't think—I know."

Vidia, who had been waiting in the trees, swooped down with a dramatic sigh. "This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard."

Tink, Dessa, Silvermist and Rosetta emerged next, standing firmly beside me.

"Yvette, you're tellin' me (Y/N) destroyed her own house? Why in the world would she do that?" Rosetta challenged.

Yvette hesitated, but quickly recovered. "To make herself look like a victim, obviously!"

I clenched my fists. "This is insane! I have nothing to do with the Thistles!"

Nyx studied me carefully, her keen scout instincts searching for any sign of deception. After a long moment, she finally spoke.

"If that's true... prove it."

I stepped forward, taking a deep breath. "I don't have to prove anything, because I wasn't the one controlling them."

Nyx didn't budge. "Then who was?"

Silence fell over the clearing.

And then, Vidia smirked.

"Y'know, for someone who's accusing (Y/N) of so much, you sure seem to know a lot about what happened, Yvette."

Yvette stiffened.

Tink caught on quickly. "She did accuse (Y/N) before anyone else even suspected her," she mused. "Almost like she needed a scapegoat."

Tinker Bell folded her arms. "Almost like she wanted to distract us from the real culprit."

Nyx narrowed her eyes at Yvette, who was suddenly shifting uncomfortably.

"That's absurd," Yvette spat. "Why would I—?"

Vidia cut her off. "Because you wanted (Y/N) gone. And what better way to do that than to turn the scout fairies against her?"

Realization dawned on Nyx's face.

Yvette's expression twisted into desperation. "I—I was just trying to protect Pixie Hollow!"

Nyx stepped closer, towering over her. "By framing another fairy and wasting the scout fairy's time?" She said through gritted teeth.

Yvette opened her mouth, then closed it.

She had no way out of this.

Queen Clarion's voice suddenly echoed through the clearing.

"That's enough."

Everyone turned in shock as the Queen, followed by the ministers, gracefully approached.

"I was alerted about this meeting by my scouts and I think I have heard enough," she said, her eyes full of wisdom. "Yvette, you have caused harm to a fellow fairy through deceit and manipulation."

Yvette paled. "But—"

Queen Clarion raised a hand. "You will be given time to reflect on your actions. Until further notice, you are to be confined to the Hollow, stripped of your duties as a garden fairy."

The silence that followed was deafening.

Yvette's face crumpled, but she didn't argue. She knew she had lost.

As she was escorted away, I let out a shaky breath, feeling Terence's hand gently squeeze mine.

"It's going to be okay," he murmured.

In the days that followed, life slowly returned to normal. My friends helped me rebuild my home, and Terence remained as attentive as ever—though now, there was no shadow of doubt or guilt behind his gestures.

He was just him

One evening, as we sat on my newly built porch, watching the glow bugs dance in the air, Terence took my hand in his.

"You okay?" he asked softly.

I smiled. "I think I finally am."

He grinned. "Good. Because I was thinking..."

I turned to him, raising an eyebrow. "Thinking about what?"

His grin turned playful as he leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to my lips.

"That I could get used to this," he whispered against them.

I laughed, wrapping my arms around him. "Yeah... me too."

As the stars twinkled above us, and the warmth of his embrace surrounded me, I knew one thing for sure.

No matter what challenges came our way, we would face them together.

And that was something no one—not even Yvette—could take away no matter how hard she tried to get between us.
