Andrea pov

The sunlight streamed through the window, waking both Luna and me from a restless sleep. We groaned in unison as we stretched our aching bodies, stiff from spending the entire night curled up on the couch. The cozy cushions had offered little relief, and I could feel the dull throb in my back as I reached for my phone on the coffee table.

"Hey, Benjamin messaged me," I said, a sleepy smile spreading across my face. It had been a while since we'd heard from him, and I was eager to see what he had to say.

But the second I opened his message, my smile disappeared.

Luna, still half-asleep and rubbing her eyes, noticed the sudden shift in my mood. "What happened, Andrea?" she asked, her voice groggy as she stretched her arms above her head.

I stared at the screen, heart pounding. "He... he sent me a picture. He's in the hospital, Luna. There's a bandage wrapped all around his chest." My voice dropped, a pit forming in my stomach.

"What?" Luna's eyes flew open, panic flashing across her face. "Show me."

I turned the phone toward her, and the blood drained from her face as she looked at the image. Benjamin, normally so full of life, was lying in a hospital bed, his chest heavily bandaged, wires and tubes connected to machines monitoring him. His face looked pale, and I could sense the pain he must be in.

"Look," I pointed at the text beneath the photo, "he even messaged the hospital name. I'm leaving to meet him right now." I stood abruptly, adrenaline already coursing through me.

"Wait, I'm coming with you," Luna said as she jumped to her feet, suddenly wide awake.

I nodded. "Alright, but you know you can't leave the house without bodyguards, Luna. It's too risky."

"Andrea, please," she pleaded, grabbing my arm. "Use your power. Just this once. You know I can't deal with them right now."

I hesitated, my mind torn. The thought of cloaking Luna from the watchful eyes of her ever-present bodyguards was tempting, but using my power came at a cost.

Each time I used it, I felt a part of myself drain, leaving me weak and vulnerable. I wasn't sure I had enough strength to do it, especially with the emotional strain of Benjamin's situation looming over me.

"But Luna, if I use my power now, I'll be drained. You know how much it takes out of me," I replied, my voice soft but firm.

But please, don't make me face the bodyguards today. We don't have time for that." Luna said.

I sighed, glancing at the clock. We were running out of time. Benjamin needed us, and Luna wasn't wrong dealing with the bodyguards could slow us down. The pit in my stomach grew heavier, but I made my decision.

"Fine," I said, letting out a deep breath. "But you have to stay close to me. The second I say we need to leave, we go. No questions, no arguments."

Luna nodded eagerly, relief washing over her face. Without wasting any more time, we hurried to get ready. After a quick shower, we dressed in silence, the weight of the situation hanging over us like a cloud.

I focused on gathering my energy, feeling the familiar hum of power beneath my skin, ready to cloak Luna from the prying eyes that would surely be searching for her.

We both got transmitted into my car

"Are you okay?" Luna asked as I started the engine, her voice laced with concern.

I glanced at her, giving a tight smile. "I'll be fine. Let's just get to Benjamin."

With that, we sped off toward the hospital, hoping we weren't too late.
